We are a couple with a dream to create a sustainable horse and animal sanctuary. We are now a registered charity
We want to rehabilitate as many horses and animals as possible in a sustainable community. Growing together as a "finca family" of like minded people with the same passion. We also rescue other animals (so far. Pigs, dogs, cats, tortoises, Guinea pigs, rabbits, hedgehogs, chickens, goats, horses).
We are passionate about sustainability as well, EVERYTHING is built from scrap and waste material. We eat "freegan" as all of our food comes from supermarket and farm waste. We are also on solar and our water systems are all sustainable too.
Our project is beautiful but hard work, we get the balance of working as a team to make it happen but enjoying the experience of back to basic living.
We live in a community based on animal welfare and sustainable living. You must be passionate about this and happy to live in a sustainable way without luxuries. We are very open for families and people with pets, we are suitable for people who love living back to basics, enjoying good conversation, good food and a relaxed way of life but willing to work hard for the love of animals and the community. Sorry but this is not the place to come to party, do drugs or work the minimum possible just for a travelling experience. This is a real community with a heart for animals and our planet.

The fantastic all round weather of Tenerife, stay on a horse farm with fantastic views of the sea and the mountains. only 5 minutes from the sea. Be surrounded by rescue animals, nature and peace. The area is very quiet other than our big finca family, no tourists, great for walking, hiking and climbing, scuba diving/ snorkeling and horse riding
You will experience what it is like to live in a big community working together to create something good for the world. Become part of the behind the scenes of a fast growing animal charity. Witness the up's and downs of the world of animal welfare.
We can also offer great work experience in many specific digital areas such as "fundraising, social media, video editing" of which we can provide references for your CV should you want them.
Currently we have over 40 volunteers ( 30 who have no plans to leave) so we sadly can't take everyone but we have some space 😊 We love to create a big family of people working hard together to create an amazing sustainable- animal paradise.
The most important thing to us to come here it that everyone must be animal lovers, support sustainable living and have a good working ethic to fit here happily as we are a fully registered charity run by a community of volunteers.
Although we are regularly looking for experienced horse loves you do not need to be experienced with horses to join our team, we also need other skills and general helpers to help us grow this amazing project. Listed below are some of the other examples of "positions" that we have in our community if you have a skill to share.
*General helpers to help with picking poo, making compost, sorting food donations, helping the builders etc no experience needed.
*Handyman/ construction team to help us build and develop. All skills greatly appreciated.
*hobby/experienced videographer to help create YouTube videos and tiktok videos for our successful channels.
*Experienced gardeners to help us develop our gardens.
* Help us to sort through food donations for the animals, includes collecting the food so a small amount of driving. But must be over 25 with a license for insurance reasons. Also must be ok with some heavy lifting.
*Our charity is funded solely by donations so help in our office in every area; fundraising, administration or building collaborations is vitally important for us and great experience for anyone who is hoping to gain work experience which can include a reference from a registered charity.
*Do you have experience with social media? Facebook, instagram, twitter, linked in? Or web development? Would you like to help us grow our online presence in this field also.
*Native spanish speakers to help us with connections and translating. Help us to grow with a spanish community.
*Animal and sustainable living enthusiasts are always welcome, especially if they want to come for a longer time and really get involved, help us build and grow the sanctuary.
*People-people to meet visitors and show them around.
*We are often looking for experienced horse people to help with feeding, cleaning, training, riding. Must be open minded to non traditional ways of horsemanship, difficult situations with rescue horse and working with limited resources on and Island. Interest or experience in positive, force free methods is essential.
But feel free to message us if you have any other skills or passion for our project and you think would be good for us to learn from regarding eco, sustainable living. building etc.
Please note we are on the island of tenerife, not mainland Spain even though the map suggest we are there.
everywhere and anywhere, caravan, tent, cave or wooden hut on the farm, you must be flexible with accommodation to stay here, as it in community living and very rustic with animals everywhere. Currently we have people many of which have been here over a year, they have made themselves their own bedroom from a cave, this way we can fit more and more people. We have fantastic views and environment however the accommodation is very very rustic, dusty, basic but cute. We are like a big family so it has never been a problem so far if all you need is a comfy bed and shelter. 😉😅
We are in a great location for buses. Only a few minutes to walk to the beach, some chances we can take the horses out riding . Always places to see in tenerife and the weather is always great

The whole community is doing an incredible job, not only to help all of the more than 400 animals, day and night, but also their commitment to sustainable living is outstanding.
I was going to see how it was with no expectations at all and end up staying for three amazing months.
I arrived and everyone was super nice to me... Emma and Edo are a lovely couple who do everything for the animals and their people.. I did 3 kinds of different work and each of them i loved!
There are so many people with different culture and personalitys, so many lovely beautiful animals... The whole place these two created is just
This place is magical. I was here for 1,5 month & really enjoyed my time.
In the morning I worked in the office & in the midday I worked outside with the animals. Working with the animals means lots of feeding, cleaning & in between a big hug for the animals
This is what we can say about the Project, our hosts Emma and Edo, all the great volunteers and of course about our time on the finca. We planned nothing but intended to stay not more than 4 - 6 weeks. It became 3 month at the end with the opportunity and even the temptation to stay way longer than this. We just left because we felt
Thanks to Emma and Edo for this opportunity. Very helpful people who know how to appreciate the good moments in life.
It was a fantastic month, between people and animals there is a harmony that I had never found. I hope to come back soon.
From the project itself, absolutely focused on the animals and trying to be the most sustainable possible, to the amazing people that volunteer there.
I feel really happy to have had the opportunity to get to know the sactuary as well and help there.
Hope to be back as soon as I finish my studies!
Emma and Edo, truly magical, selfless and dedicated people,
As I was part of the small animals team I learned a lot about animals and how to embrace conscious living with a big community of 25 people. This way of life can have its challenges but it's sooo worth it. I met amazing people with beautiful
Edo and Emma was very friendly and respectful to me and they give all you need for stay here without spending money.
This place is incredible place for those who like animals and don’t mind to be out of there comfort
I stayed for more or less 5 months and the more i stayed
She was very versatile with work and helped me out where ever i needed it. She worked online helping us fundraise, cleaned the small animals in which she is super good with the animals. Especially guinea pigs!
They really care about their rescue horses which make them calm and friendly, I loved the nice walks on sunset. Emma basically taught me how to ride, I had no experience before and these horses are well behaved so it was easy to learn and safe.
Thank you for what your are doing with animal and people ! You created a wonderful place with a beautiful energy where everybody can be themselves, happy and free.
Thank you for your trust
Hope to see you soon !
Milles besos !
Emma and Edo are doing an amazing work at Tenerife, building a lovely home for all the animals in need. Every day was different, and every day was full of fun, sun and good company (and a bit of dust ;)). I stayed in Tenerife for one month
I would totally recommend this to anyone who
They kindly allowed me to join them last minute and sleep in a tent on the finca beneath the beautiful stars. I spent one month helping them build several rock walls, make a concrete pool for water filtration, an enclosure
It's a little paradise for all kinds of animals and peoples.
The work was good to handle, it changed from easy work (like feeding the small animals) to a little bit harder work(like moving rocks) all the time, so you dont get bored or physical destroyed.
And at the afternoons you allways have the
Edoardo end Emma are really nice and lovely people, who are doing an incredible thing, taking care of all the animals that need help.
I recommend going there to all those who love animals, nature, and a Spartan life.
I've spent there 3 incredible months, learning many
