  Description

  Helen and Robert, we have been working on developing a vegetable garden and geo-dome for the past few years. We grow all types of veg and work in a chemical-free environment. The garden is part of a wider group of enterprises commercial and social enterprises that form part of a complex where we live. So we run a Cafe, we have renovated farm buildings to create tourist accommodation. Helen has a particular interest in tackling the disadvantage experienced by people with disabilities and has been working on trying to develop new models of social enterprise that can create meaningful empoyment for people with disabilities. We are not looking for help in our commercial enterprise which runds completely separately.

  You will be located in a nice rural village, just a 10-minute drive from Kilkenny which is a beautiful medieval city. There are a number of really nice smaller towns which offer traditional music in the pubs and have a lot going on, particularly during the busy summer season. We have a very nice Cafe and so you will have to opportunity to meet other staff and people working with us on various enterprises.

  Aide

  The main work is in our vegetable garden and general maintenance and upkeep of yards and flower beds. We have a geodome and polytunnel where we grow summer veg such as peppers tomatoes cucumbers etc. The garden is part of a social enterprise project where we employ Brian who has a mild intellectual disability. Experience in gardening is not essential, but being a member of a team and willing to support Brian as your co-worker is essential

  A bedroom in our family home. You will be on the top floor of our 3-story house which has just been renovated and we have just moved into. There is a toilet and wash hand basin on the 3 rd floor and a shared bathroom with shower etc on the 2nd floor. You will share all family meals and we will accommodate lifts to see the various sights in your time off.
