Hi, we are Jackie and Joana 😊
We are mainly looking for a reliable, practical and family-oriented helper who supports us in everyday life at home, helps keeping things running smoothly, and occasionally spends time with my daughter Joana (8).
The most important focus of the stay is:
- household support (especially cleaning and keeping the home organized)
- simple cooking on some evenings during the week
- practical hands-on help with small projects and repairs
- occasional supervision and time with Joana
About us
We, Jackie (37-yo) and Joana 8-yo) live in Oerlikon, about 5 km from Zurich city center (around 20 minutes by public transport or bicycle).
Our neighborhood is urban but very family-friendly. We live in a housing cooperative with shared facilities such as bike and car rentals, playgrounds, a café, and a coworking space. Parks, the lake, rivers, and nature are easily accessible, and free bikes make it easy to explore Zurich. The airport is also nearby (about 25 minutes by bike or 14 minutes by public transport).

Staying with us offers a genuine insight into everyday life in Zurich and in Switzerland beyond the tourist perspective. As a family, we value openness, conversation, and learning from each other.
Travellers can:
- experience daily life in a Swiss urban neighborhood and housing cooperative
- learn how family life, school routines, and work-life balance are organized in Switzerland
- exchange ideas about education, parenting, sustainability, and community life
I work as a teacher, so I enjoy sharing perspectives on the Swiss education system and learning from other cultures and backgrounds in return.
If interested, travellers can also get an insight into foodsharing, a sustainability movement I’m actively involved in, including how community-based initiatives work in Switzerland. Participation is optional and meant as cultural exchange rather than work.
Above all, this stay is about mutual exchange: sharing meals, conversations, experiences, and perspectives on life.

We aim for a fair Workaway exchange of around 20–22 hours per week (per person), spread over 5 days (max. 5 hours/day), with two free days.
🧼 Household & cooking (main focus)
Regular cleaning and keeping the apartment tidy (main priority)
Helping with laundry, dishes, and general household organization
Cooking simple dinners a few evenings per week (2–3 times weekly)
🛠️ Practical help / small projects
Helping organize and declutter spaces (e.g. basement)
Small repairs (e.g. fixing bikes, light DIY tasks)
Balcony/garden-related tasks (e.g. choosing and caring for plants)
👧 Occasional childcare
Occasionally spending time with Joana when I am out
Helping her with reading, maths practice, or creative activities
Playing or doing simple activities together
Preparing a simple meal for her on some evenings
Theres no minimum weeks of stay but a maximum. We prefer workaways of only a few weeks, preferably not longer than a month.

Hébergement
Private bedroom in our apartment.
The room is fully for the volunteer’s private use and includes a bed and storage space. Shared use of bathroom, kitchen, and common areas.
