    Description

I love the calm and peaceful surroundings, away from the village but close enough to walk there, plenty of space to have some animals (5 sheep, 6 chickens, 3 dogs and 3 cats) and to grow some vegetables for family consumption. If you're looking for time outdoors in a tranquil environment, family atmosphere and some light farm work, this is your place.
We are a couple but have one of our children and her family living close by. We used to live close to a big city but felt the need to slow down and be close to nature Ando to have more control over what is in our food. We pride ourselves of trying to use only natural products on our property.

Our family comprises people from 3 different cultures, with all the challenges and cultural opportunities that they offer. We can share speaking English and Portuguese, decorative painting tips, translating help. There are frequent social events in the village (especially in the summer). We also hope to learn and exchange skills and tips for taking care of our small farm . We have moved to the country 4 years ago in search of a slower lifestyle closer to nature. It has been a a very satisfying and rewarding learning process

The workawayer will share our family life as he/she will stay in the house with us and participate in whatever family activities there may be. We can teach conversational Portuguese and English as we are a bilingual family; we can also share everything we have learned ourselves about raising chickens, sheep, and growing a vegetable garden (all using only ecological products). My husband used to be a decorative painter, and so he can teach decorative painting techniques.
The village is small, but the people are friendly and welcoming, always speaking when you see them on the street.
Within a short train ride, there is the city of Beja, with its castle and typical architecture from Alentejo.

We'd love to have some help with some chores on our farm, such as weeding, watering, pruning, raking up hay, and some small repairs around the property. We will be working alongside any workawayers and exchanging skills.

Our place is close to Évora and Beja, and there is public transportation to both places. You can also catch a bus to Setúbal or a train to Lisbon.
We are non-smokers and enjoy the tranquil living but love meeting people from other cultures. We have a simple, calm lifestyle.

We don't have a designated computer workspace, so they'd work either on the dining room table, in their bedroom or on the porch. In the summer, any work done outdoors should be done before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m due to the heat (only in the summer).

We have plenty of space for campers or motorhomes. If need be, they can empty their human waste into our septic tank. They can also take showers in the house. We'll provide the use of our washing machine.
