  Description

  We're a fun family of four, with two adventurous adult sons (one has just returned from a workaway in Asia!). When we're not busy with our day jobs, we manage a cosy little accommodation in Cape Town's lush, leafy suburbs. Our awesome team of char ladies and gardeners keep things running smoothly, leaving you more time to explore!
  
  We’re nestled in Kenilworth, close to cool cafes and shops. Need to get around? Trains, buses, and Ubers are super easy to catch. Just 5km away, the stunning Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens invite you for a scenic stroll, and the University of Cape Town is a short 7km trip. Surf’s up at Muizenberg Beach, only 14km away—perfect for catching waves! Plus, you'll be spoiled for choice with nearby wine estates, sports facilities, adventure sports like paragliding and kayaking, and incredible mountain trails for hiking and biking.
  
  Cape Town is an outdoor lover's paradise, blessed with a Mediterranean climate. You might even experience four seasons in one day! There's so much to discover here—join us and dive into the adventure! 🌞🌊🌿

  You’re invited to live alongside us—join for meals, and share in the cooking duties. We have a sunroom and a formal lounge for relaxing, plus a small strength-training gym you’re welcome to use anytime.
  
  If you need some quiet time, our peaceful garden is the perfect spot to unwind. Or, join in with the family whenever you feel like it! We all have separate businesses off-site, and if you're interested, you're welcome to tag along and see what we do.
  
  And, of course, you'll meet our three cats: Alice, who’s a bit more independent; Mojo, always full of curiosity; and Lucy, the relaxed and easygoing one. We'd love to get to know you better—your family, your culture, and what life’s like back home!

  Aide

  We’re on the lookout for Workawayers to join our "quiet-ish" yet slightly chaotic household! Whether you’re a natural organizer or love hands-on tasks, we have roles that require teamwork, flexibility, and a shared commitment to keeping our guesthouse and home running smoothly.
  
  1. Guesthouse Manager & Home Helper
  This role is perfect for someone with good computer skills and a flair for hospitality. You’ll take the lead in ensuring our guests feel welcome and everything runs like clockwork.
  Your tasks will include:
  Handling bookings, guest check-ins and check-outs, and maintaining a friendly, organized environment.
  Scheduling our cleaners and doing quality control to ensure rooms and common areas are spotless/pristine.
  Assisting with hosting duties, from welcoming guests to sharing your favorite local tips.
  Helping out with light household chores and meal prep when needed.
  
  2. Carpentry, Artisan, Gardener, Arborist tasks
  If you prefer practical work, this role focuses on maintenance, creativity, and outdoor care.
  Your tasks will include:
  Gardening, caring for plants, and working on creative landscaping projects like our fish ponds.
  Light construction, general repairs, and assisting with property upgrades.
  Stepping in for hosting duties occasionally, such as greeting guests and giving tours.
  
  Working Together
  These two roles will work closely with each other and with our family to create a seamless guest experience. The guesthouse phone needs to be manned 7 days a week, so you’ll coordinate schedules and responsibilities to ensure no calls are missed. The handyman will need to support hosting duties when required, ensuring flexibility across the team.
  
  We’re a collaborative household, and we value teamwork and open communication. By working together, you’ll help us create a welcoming environment for our guests while having plenty of time to explore the wonders of Cape Town.

  Hébergement

  We have 2 to 3 rooms available, offering both double beds for couples and single beds for solo travelers. Please note that solo travelers may be required to share a room depending on availability.
  
  Your cosy room comes with a comfy bed, and perhaps a sunny balcony with stunning mountain views. Each room is furnished with a desk, chair, and free WiFi to keep you connected. There is a shared bathroom (with a shower and toilet).
  
  You'll have a cupboard for your clothes, and your room is lockable for added privacy. Fresh linen is provided weekly to keep things crisp!
  
  For entertainment, we have a cinema-style setup in our Sunroom, featuring a projector and screen with access to Netflix, Prime, YouTube, and more. The Sunroom is one of our communal spaces, where you can socialise, relax, or unwind with a good book.
  
  We also provide a separate desk with a PC for you to handle tasks for the establishment. Feel free to use it for your own work if needed.
  
  Dinner is a fun, shared experience during the week—each household member takes turns preparing a meal for everyone. The rest of the time, you're welcome to whip up your own meals in the kitchen with whatever ingredients are available. Bon appétit!
