Hi there and welcome to our WorkAway profile,
We are Anne, Loes and Thomas, a Dutch family living on the countryside near the picturesque L’Ametlla de Mar. Four years ago we bought a finca with 1,5 hectare of land and since then we’ve been working on and off to create a home where we can live and invite friends and family.
We are looking for enthusiastic and hands-on people who would like to help us with different projects on our land. Tasks include helping in the garden and on the campo (olive and almond trees), small renovation or construction projects around the house, and of course caring for our animals: an energetic dog, a small flock of chickens, and two affectionate tomcats.
The good experiences we have had with friends that came to help us, made us realise that we like to have people around, to enjoy each other’s company, to work together on projects, and to share the amazing house and surroundings. You will have your own room in the main house (or a private cabin near the house), and we believe that working and living together can be valuable and enriching.
A short introduction so you know who we are:
Anne is the energetic father, a building contractor with over 18 years of experience. He loves creating and working on construction projects, and also enjoys diving.
Loes is the caring mother, a goldsmith. She divides her time between here work, Thomas, the animals, the garden, her e-reader, walks in nature, and other enjoyable activities.
Thomas is 6 years old, active, curious and full of life. He goes to school in the village and will happily invite you to join him in play.
We live in the countryside, but the house is well-equipped with everything you could wish for. Yes, that is indeed an olive orchard you see in some of the pictures! The surrounding area is full of almond and olive trees, and offers peace, space and beautiful views.
You will have your own cabin 50 meters from the house, equipped with heating, air conditioning and water. By car or bicycle it’s only a few minutes to the nearest supermarket, and just a little further you reach L’Ametlla de Mar: a small but lively town with restaurants, shops and a lovely seaside. The nearby mountains are perfect for hiking and cycling, while bigger cities like Tarragona (40 min) and Barcelona (1.5 h) are easily accessible by train.
Our home is located near the beautiful coastal town of L’Ametlla de Mar in Catalonia – perfect for someone who enjoys peace, nature, working outdoors and spending time with animals.

Anne is an experienced builder who likes sharing his knowledge with people who are eager to learn new things. It is a place where you don't have to be anything, but together we can do and learn anything.

In my three weeks there I have helped with various works such as the olive harvest, the construction of a parking lot for campers or renovation work. Even besides the work we had a lot of fun together.
Paul is a quiet guy, incredibly sweet and attend to us and our little son.
Our door is always open for you Paul!
