!!! Searching for 2 or 3 volunteers who could take care of my house, garden and animals from mid May until November. My wish is to go shepherding in France this summer and I hope to find trustworthy and responsable people that enjoy countryside life to take over the place. In this unusual times where our freedom is restricted, here you can wander around and breathe fresh air day and night. If this notice and my profile resonates with you in any way, feel free to ask for more informations. Be brave and reach out. !!!
Twenty years ago I decided to move in the countryside and settle down in a beautiful an remote area in Galicia. Since then I am living a simple life, self sufficient as possible, working hard from dawn til dusk and that's why I would really appreciate your help.
I have three kids that come to visit every once in a while and a big four legged family. Around 70 rebellious goats, 6 friendly spanish mastiffs guarding them, 2 border collies keeping them all together, the most beautiful sow and 2 rat chasing cats.
My day starts with a quick coffee and breakfast, feeding Chica the sow and taking off for a few hours to wander with the goats. If late they become restless, looking forward to being released from their pen, itching to range across the wide expanse. Sometimes taking them to richer pastures, sometimes going with the goat wisdom that intuitively searches out the better places. One of the main things to take care while the goats graze is to keep an eye that they don't trespass on private properties.
Around midday a quick lunch, look around the garden and back to the goats until evening. Dinner and finally well deserved rest. Sleep. Repeat.
During the winter the goats are kept in a stall near the house, as soon as the snow melts I transfer them in a fenced area 20 min walk away and they need to be walked twice a day.
The garden needs a lot of love and attention, including vegetable planting, harvesting and crop tending. Chica is doing the hard work, digging the vegetable plots better then a tractor.
We have spent the last few years undertaking major work in and around the house but is still a work in progress, a big project where extra hands are required.
This is the perfect place for people who enjoy the outdoors, gardening, taking care of animals, getting their hands dirty and appreciate the silence. The world is quiet here.

This position will especially benefit somebody who wants to learn more about all different aspects of running a farm, a sustainable lifestyle and goathering.
I have travelled a lot and still love doing it, have hosted a lot of people in the last few years so both me and my children are very friendly, respectful and curious about other cultures. And btw, I am 42 and born in Croatia. ;)
A variety of different tipes of tasks depending on your competence and experience, and on the time of the year.
Mainly goatherding, milking and making cheese (small scale), gardening, cleaning, splitting and stacking firewood, general maintenance.
Let me know if you'll be able to help with any of these, I'll try to match tasks to your skills and be happy to teach you as long as you are motivated to learn, hard working and able to take initiative.

You'll have your own room equipped with a woodstove as in the winter gets really cold, a basic accomodation but you can feel free to do whatever you want to make it cozier.
Meals are provided, we like to socialize in the kitchen and try to eat lunch and dinner together.
Can cater for vegetarians but keep in mind that we bread the goats as meat animals.
It's simply the perfect place to get in touch with yourself and the nature. You can hike or cycle around.
Whenever I will go out to the shop you will be welcome to come along and when I won't need the car you can borrow it to discover the area.
The nearest airport is Santiago de Compostela, from there you have to take the bus to Lugo from where I can pick you up.
