    Description

I live in a peaceful village in Miyazaki and enjoy a slow-paced life in the countryside. My project is simple: to share the beauty of traditional Japanese daily life with people from all over the world.
I live in a house separate to my mother, and we maintain our garden and small family space together. I am looking for someone who wants to experience an authentic Japanese homestay—cooking together, walking in nature, and exchanging languages. It’s not about labor, but about becoming part of the family for a while and enjoying the quiet life away from the city.

We offer a true immersion into the Japanese countryside life. You will stay with a local family and experience our daily routines, which is very different from staying in big cities like Tokyo or Osaka.
Traditional Japanese Cooking: I can teach you how to prepare authentic home-style dishes using fresh local ingredients and rice.
Language Exchange: I am happy to help you practice your Japanese, and I would love to learn more English or your native language from you.
Local Culture: Depending on the season, you can participate in local village festivals, visit hidden shrines, or explore the beautiful nature of Miyazaki with me.
Sustainable Living: You can see how we live in harmony with nature in a small rural community.

Since I am looking for a cultural homestay exchange, the help I need is very simple and revolves around our daily life:

Language exchange: Just chatting with me and my family during meals or coffee breaks to help us practice English.

Cooking together: Sharing your favorite recipes and helping me prepare family dinners.

General house help: Light tidying up, helping with the dishes, or occasional grocery shopping.

Gardening: Keeping our small family garden and yard neat (watering plants or light weeding)

The most important thing is that you enjoy the peaceful environment and become a part of our daily routine

    Hébergement

You will have a private guest room in my house. It is a traditional Japanese-style room with comfortable bedding (futon) and tatami mats.
Privacy: The room is private, so you can relax comfortably.
Facilities: You will have access to a shared bathroom, kitchen, and laundry machine. We have Wi-Fi available as well.
Food: We provide three meals a day. We love sharing home-cooked Japanese meals, but you are also welcome to use the kitchen if you'd like to cook something for yourself.
Environment: My house is located right next to my mother’s house, in a very quiet and safe neighborhood surrounded by nature.

What you can do on your time off:
My village is surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers, making it a perfect place for hiking, photography, or simply relaxing in nature. If you enjoy a slow pace of life, you will love exploring the local shrines and hidden scenic spots nearby. On your days off, you can visit famous sightseeing spots in Miyazaki, such as Takachiho Gorge or the beautiful coastal areas, which are great for a day trip.
    Local sights:
There are many traditional festivals and community events throughout the year. If your timing is right, I’d be happy to take you along to experience these unique local traditions!
    Transport:
Our village is quite rural, so public transport is limited. However, I am happy to pick you up and drop you off at the nearest train station or bus stop upon your arrival and departure.
During your stay, I can also take you to the local supermarket or nearby attractions when I go out. If you want to explore further on your own, having an international driving permit would be very useful, but it’s not required.
    Note:
Since this is a quiet community, it’s a great place for someone who enjoys peace and quiet rather than nightlife

What a typical day looks like: We don't have a strict schedule. In the morning, we might spend a little time together in the garden or tidying up around the house. In the afternoon, we can go for a walk in the beautiful countryside, visit local spots, or just relax with a cup of tea. I would love for us to cook together in the evening. I can show you how to make traditional Japanese dishes using local ingredients, and you can tell me about your favorite food from home! This is a great time for our language exchange and getting to know each other. On your days off, you are free to explore Miyazaki or just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of our village
