🌿 FAMILY DESCRIPTION
We are a lively family with children and a busy daily routine, so we feel more comfortable with someone mature, independent and naturally helpful, who would enjoy being part of everyday family life while speaking English with us.
We are a warm, welcoming and open-minded family living in the heart of Catania, Sicily.
We are a family of four: mum, dad and two curious, sensitive and energetic boys aged 8 and 10.
We have been hosting volunteers for many years, and for us Workaway is mainly about human and cultural exchange. We enjoy sharing everyday life in a simple, authentic and respectful way, creating a calm and positive family atmosphere.
We live in the historic centre of Catania, in a lively and authentic neighbourhood surrounded by markets, bookstores, cafés, restaurants and local shops. We love the energy of city life and the authentic atmosphere of our area. Our home is well connected by metro and train, making it easy to explore Sicily during free time.
We appreciate people of different ages and backgrounds, and we truly enjoy creating genuine connections through daily life, conversations, shared meals and simple everyday moments.
Our routine is quite relaxed and family-oriented: the children go to school in the morning, we enjoy sharing meals when possible, and afternoons are usually spent between home life, walks, games, conversation and simple daily activities.
We also have pets, including two Chihuahuas who are very much part of family life 🐶
For us, it is not about constant entertainment, but about creating a positive, relaxed and genuine presence within the family.
We live in a central and well-connected area of Catania. The sea is not within walking distance but easily reachable by public transport. Sicily offers an incredible mix of culture, history, Mount Etna, and beautiful landscapes.
During school mornings, you will have free time to explore, relax or travel around the island.

⚠️At this stage of our life, we feel especially comfortable hosting older guests or mature travellers who enjoy a calm, family-oriented environment and meaningful cultural exchange.
We are open to welcoming people of different ages and backgrounds, and we truly appreciate the warmth, life experience and cultural exchange that more mature Workawayers can bring to family life.
🌸 We are looking for a kind, positive and reliable person who would enjoy sharing some everyday family life with us and speaking English naturally with the children.
For us, the main focus is human connection: we would love English to become part of daily life in a spontaneous and relaxed way through conversations, simple games, walks, creative activities and shared moments together.
We are not looking for a formal teacher or constant entertainment, but rather for a calm and genuine presence within the family.
The help required is light and mainly involves:
spending time with the children in the afternoons while speaking English naturally
sharing simple everyday moments together
taking the dogs for a walk
small help with normal family routines, such as setting the table or unloading the dishwasher
School mornings are generally free during the school period.
More than perfect English or experience, we value kindness, openness, respect and a genuine willingness to share family life in an authentic way.
⚠️ HOSTING CONDITIONS
Due to past experience and for organizational reasons, we kindly inform you that:
We cannot host groups of friends or multiple volunteers at the same time
We are generally not able to host couples
We do not host full families
We are, however, open to hosting:
a single volunteer
or in some cases a mother with one child (depending on compatibility and available space)
We appreciate your understanding, as these conditions are based on previous hosting experiences.

Hébergement
🌸 You will have a large private room with beautiful high ceilings and frescoes, two balconies, a desk and a comfortable double bed.
WiFi is available and you will have your own personal space and privacy.
We are happy to share meals together as part of family life. At the same time, we fully respect your independence and personal time, so you are free to organize yourself when needed.
Small collaboration in daily family routines (such as helping set/clear the table) is appreciated, as part of normal shared living.
We value a relaxed and respectful home environment where everyone feels comfortable.

We live in downtown Catania, surrounded by shops, Historic fruit and vegetable market,restaurants, bookstores, and cafés.
The area is well connected by metro and train, perfect for exploring Syracuse, Taormina, Mount Etna, and many other beautiful spots in Sicily.
The sea is not just outside our door, but it's easily reachable by public transport.
