  Description

  We are a registered animal rescue organisation located in Greenhills which is about 15 minutes drive from York, Western Australia.
  
  First established in 2018, our sanctuary aims to provide care, rehabilitation and rehoming for animals in need, many of which are sick, injured or simply unwanted animals saved from abuse or neglect.
  
  Currently set on a 200-acre property near York, Western Australia, we are now home to around 140 animals - from pigs and sheep to donkeys and cows, plus everything in between 🫏🐂🐓🐇🐐🐖🐕🦙🐏🪿🐈
  
  Our animals require daily care from someone with some experience and lots of passion for animal care. As well as feeding twice a day, time is also needed for general maintenance around the sanctuary as well as spending time familiarising the animals with human touch.

  In return for your help you will get to experience a quiet rural country lifestyle away from big towns and cities. But first and foremost, you will learn about the everyday care of our animals, as well as the nutritional and emotional requirements of animals not being raised for human use. Over time you will form special bonds with some of our animals as they slowly learn to read your body language and behaviour in order to trust you.

  Aide

  We are looking for a couple of volunteers who can help to take care of our animals and maintain the sanctuary property. We think this position is best suited to a couple or two friends who can help together.
  
  Ideally, you will have your own vehicle for days off etc. as there is no public transport out to the sanctuary so you will have to rely on being dropped off to York at prearranged times. See below for details of bus service from York.
  
  You must have a manual driving license or at least be able to drive manual vehicles on the property.
  
  Basic tasks include feeding and medicating animals, cleaning water troughs and paddock maintenance. Additional projects include helping with constructing and repairing shelters, implementing animal enrichment projects and establishing and maintaining pasture on our 200-acre property with the help of our regular 'Busy Bee' volunteers.
  
  Since the animals take time to gain trust, priority will be given to volunteers who can commit to longer stays. A minimum of one month would be required, but ideally 2-3 months (or longer!) would be great for you to build connections and feel the reward of your work.

  Hébergement

  Accommodation is a twin room in the main house. The house is airconditioned and there is a fast Starlink internet connection throughout the house.
  
  A weekly food allowance is provided for volunteers to shop and cook for themselves.
  
  Please note that since we are an animal rescue organisation this is a fully vegan property. No animal products are to be brought onsite unless required to feed an animal in our care.

  Public transport is limited in this area, but with your own vehicle you can visit local towns such as York and Northam, or drive 90 minutes to Perth CBD.
  
  For those that do not have there own vehicle there is a limited bus service between York and Perth and you can book tickets here:
  
  
  Click on 'Book Tickets' and then click on 'One Way' then for 'From' it is 'East Perth Terminal' if you are staying in the city or 'Midland' if you are closer to Midland. 'To' is 'York' and then put in the date that you want and it will tell you if there is a service that day and what time it leaves and what time it arrives in to York. The cost is around 20 AUD
  
  Please check with us before you book your tickets as we will need to pick you up from York to drive you to the sanctuary.
