    Description

🌿 Jungle & Ocean Retreat Space in Ecuador

This is a retreat space located on the coast of Ecuador, just outside the small town of Ayampe.

The land sits between rainforest and ocean — surrounded by lush jungle, wildlife, and overlooking the Pacific. Monkeys, birds, and all kinds of life move through the trees, and the beach with consistent surf is within walking distance.

Ayampe itself is a unique place — a small, welcoming town with a strong sense of community and a focus on conscious living, nature, and creativity.

    🌱 The space

This is an evolving, non-profit retreat space.

It’s a simple, natural environment designed for people to slow down, reconnect, and spend time close to nature. Retreats, workshops, and gatherings take place here, often centered around yoga, movement, meditation, music, and community living.

At the same time, the land is being developed with a focus on permaculture, regeneration, and sustainable living.

This is not a polished resort — it’s a living project that’s growing over time.

    🤲 Volunteering

Volunteers are a big part of how the space grows and functions.

We’re generally looking for people who are hands-on, adaptable, and happy to be part of shared living.

Areas where support is especially appreciated:

🌱 Permaculture, gardening, planting, and land care

🛠️ Handyman skills, building, maintenance, and small construction projects

🧹 Helping with the day-to-day running of retreats (cleaning, preparing spaces, general support)

🎨 Creative contributions like music, movement, or workshops (if you have something to share)

🌿 General upkeep of communal areas

No need to be an expert in everything — a good attitude and willingness to contribute go a long way.

    🌊 Daily life

Life here is simple and close to nature.

There’s a rhythm between working on the land, supporting the space, and having free time to rest, surf, explore, or just be.
Days can be physical and hands-on, but there’s also space for quiet moments, connection, and community.

You’ll be living in a shared environment, so openness, respect, and good communication are important.

    🌞 What to expect

A natural setting between jungle and ocean

A small, international community of volunteers and visitors

A balance of work, free time, and shared moments

    Basic but comfortable living conditions

Opportunities to learn practical skills and connect with others

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

This is a place where people from different parts of the world come together to live, work, and share everyday life.

Most of the exchange happens naturally — through shared meals, working on the land, time in the ocean, and evenings spent talking, playing music, or just slowing down together. There’s often a mix of volunteers, retreat guests, and local friends passing through, which creates a really open and social environment.

We’re also connected to the local community in Ayampe, so there’s a chance to experience life in a small Ecuadorian coastal town — from local food and markets to community events, surf culture, and the slower rhythm of life here.

    🤲 What we share

At this place, you can learn and be part of:

Basics of permaculture and gardening in a tropical climate

    Hands-on building and maintenance projects

How a retreat space is run and hosted behind the scenes

Community living — sharing space, responsibilities, and daily rhythms

    Simple, nature-connected living

There’s also space for informal sharing — whether that’s music, movement, cooking, or conversations about different ways of living and seeing the world.

🌱 What we’re excited to learn

Hosting people from different cultures is a big part of what shapes this place.

    We’re always curious to learn:

New ways of building, growing food, and working with the land

Different perspectives on community and lifestyle

Skills people bring from their own backgrounds

New ideas, creativity, and ways of doing things

More than anything, it’s about the exchange that happens naturally when people live together with openness and respect.

    🛖 Accommodation & food

Volunteers stay on the land in simple, shared accommodation surrounded by jungle and ocean views.

Sleeping arrangements are generally shared rooms or basic private spaces depending on availability, with beds, mattresses, and mosquito nets provided. The style is natural and open — not luxury, but comfortable, clean, and connected to the environment.

We make sure everyone has a safe and secure place to sleep, and we ask everyone to help keep shared spaces clean and cared for.

There are shared bathrooms with basic facilities, and access to water for showering and daily use.

    🍽️ Food

We have a big, open and shared kitchen and dining space.
We still haven't decided how food sharing will work, but we encourage eating together.

We're planning to provide meals, to cook and eat together.

    🌿 Living style

Life here is fairly simple and close to nature.

    That means:

You may hear animals at night

Weather and humidity are part of daily life

Things aren’t always “perfect” — but they’re real

We aim to create a space that is comfortable, respectful, and welcoming, while staying connected to the natural surroundings.

    🌊 Time off & exploring

There’s plenty to do around here during your free time.

Ayampe is just a short walk away, where you’ll find:

    Beaches and consistent surf

    Small cafés and local restaurants

A relaxed social scene with both locals and travelers

You can also explore nearby spots like waterfalls, jungle trails, and other beaches along the coast. Whale watching is possible in season, and there are opportunities to visit nearby towns like Puerto López.

Most things are accessible on foot, and for longer trips you can use local buses or taxis, which are easy and affordable.

    🧭 Living together

Life here is shared and fairly simple, so a few things are important:

Respect for each other’s space, time, and energy

Helping keep shared areas clean and organized

Good communication — if something comes up, we talk about it

Being mindful with noise, especially at night

We’re not a party hostel — while there can be music and social moments, the overall atmosphere is more grounded and connected to nature.

    🌿 Good to know

The climate is tropical — expect heat, humidity, rain, and bugs

Bring comfortable work clothes, swimwear, and something for rain

A headlamp/flashlight can be useful at night

Flexibility helps — things can change with weather, projects, and retreat schedules

This is an evolving space, so part of the experience is stepping into something that’s still growing and being shaped.

If you enjoy nature, simple living, and being part of a shared project, you’ll likely feel at home here 🌿
