Description
I run a custom adventure tour company mostly offering epic backcountry horseback tours, to hardly visited areas in the Andes. I live with my young daughter and horses, mules, dogs and cats. Our place completely off grid. It is very comfortable with an easy climate, we have solar power and local water sources which we manage ourselves. It is a great remote location in the mountain at 3170 meters above sea levels, 20 minutes drive to a touristic town, in the Sacred Valley near Cusco, Peru. We have WIFI. This is a women-led company and home, it’s a safe place. Our male workers are respectful and professional. Our child is homeschooled, in 3rd grade and a teaching helper could be good.
At the moment we most need helpers who are CONFIDENT RIDERS, or others who have skills as CARPINTERS, WELDERS, SOCIAL MEDIA, AUTO MECANICS, strong workers to build things as we are in the process of building the ranch in a new property.we are at high altitude so you must be physically fit.
PLEASE READ OUR PROFILE COMPLETELY BEFORE WRITING. MINIMUM STAY 3 MONTHS. If you don't fit the profile, please don't write us. We will ask for a whatsapp call, do an interview and may ask for videos of your riding or other skills.

This area was home to the Incas and is a major touristic destination some in town here and countless archeological sites a short bus ride away. This area is very safe for travelling around. I have lived here 14 years and work directly with locals in many remote villages. I travel often off the regular tourist routes so I can share a lot of info about the region and exploration tips. The locals are Spanish and Quechua speaking and mostly work in traditional agriculture. I am always happy to share my extensive knowledge of this area gained by working for many years here in tourism. Our horses are peruvian paso horses, a breed of specially gaited horses bred here in Peru and we have large saddle mules. We teach cultural activities to our guests, you are welcome to join in.

I'm looking for help at home and for the horse ranch. We are in the process of building up the installations on our new property. The help might be spending short time with my child so I can get some work done, shopping at the local market, light cleaning or cooking a meal for us to share or caring for our animals and building things on the farm. Help with promotion of our business and website and social media could also be an option for those who can stay for a longer period. A person with extensive experience with horses would also be very welcome for a longer period. If you can do mechanical work on my truck, that would be amazing! We expect all visitors to help with regular housework/cooking/roommate duties. It is required to speak a basic level of SPANISH so you can communicate with our team and clients.
Our horses are well trained and work quite often, we do not need to ride them just for exercise. For those with experience there is the opportunity to ride often but please do not think that your main or daily job will be just to ride the horses, there is a lot of other farm work to do. Horse care is always the first job and might require moving the horses to different fields and getting them water.
We need help guiding rides for those staying longer, but spanish speaking required for that.

Hébergement
Shared room (max 2 helpers could be in the room) and bath with hot shower. We provide basic fresh local groceries and staples. We eat very simply and naturally. If you need lots of meat, butter etc, special ingredients, snacks or imported items you should provide them yourself. NO SPECIAL DIETS.
This is a rural house without neighbours and there is no local transport down to the valley, not appropriate for those who want to be around lots of people or want to party. We drive down to the nearest town aprox once a week. You can go down when you want to, often with us, but if you go on your own, the taxi to return costs aprox 20$us.
We don’t accept drug use nor any alcohol, not even on days off. We don’t accept those who want to go out and party often and we wake up early, WORK BEGINS AT 7AM or earlier. We expect you to know how to cook to sometimes fix your own meals or group meals and definitely to help clean up the kitchen and living space and your bathroom as a usual roomate would do. Everyone must cook and clean, no waiting for someone to attend you. Meals are mostly made as a group, not everyone fixing the own food, this good coordination is required. You can access what you need in the kitchen anytime.
On days off, there are lovely restaurants and cafes in town and lots of local events such as workshops and a farmers market. You can have the opportunity to visit local traditional villages. The nearest villages are 1 hour and 20 minutes walk away but we often drive down (20 minutes drive) and can take you. The city of Cusco is 1 hour drive from the Sacred Valley. There are no shops within walking distance of the ranch.
The house is off grid. We use solar power and off grid water systems so conservation is necessary.

This area is safe and extremely interesting to visit. People interested in epic landscapes, riding, nature, traditional farming and textiles will really love it here. It is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the world and never boring here. We can only host those who want to stay for a minimum of 12 weeks unless you have specific technical skills like auto mechanics, building or welding. We are not able to cater to any dietary restrictions. We love food and cooking. We wake up early and are active and fast-paced, please do not come here if you are tired from your travels and need to rest/relax, nor if you feel sick or have a health or emotional problem. Always let us know immediately if you have any discomfort or illness.
We have a young child in 3rd grade, patience is required. We prefer non smokers. We require a conversation by whatsapp before accepting helpers. We also have a 2 week trial period once you arrive to see if we are a good fit.
At our farm we do everything by hand and in traditional or DIY ways. This might be very different from what u are used to at home, please be ready to learn and do new things and open to different perspectives. No racism nor other discrimination is tolerated here.
