Description
We are a social enterprise based in Gulu, Uganda, founded by Susan in 2020. The organization provides training and employment opportunities in the apparel industry for women in the community. It has a tailoring academy that offers a one year course to women who have dropped out of school and have no formal education. The academy graduates then become salaried tailors in our factory, where they create quality garments that meet the needs of local businesses.
It's mission is to empower women through employment, and it is committed to creating a positive social impact in the community. We are excited to offer an opportunity for Workawayers to join our team and make a meaningful impact in our community.
We are seeking professionals in resource mobilisation, administration, vocational training, and organizational management to volunteer with us for a minimum of three months. As a Workawayer, you will work closely with our team to help us expand our operations, increase our impact, and achieve our goals.
As a host, we will provide you with accommodation and meals to cover your living expenses. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Ugandan culture, work alongside a passionate and dedicated team, and make a lasting impact on the lives of women in our community.
We are looking for Workawayers who are dedicated, hardworking, and passionate about social impact. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please send us a message with your resume, cover letter, and the area you are interested in volunteering in.

We believe that our workawayers will benefit from the rich cultural experience that comes with living and working in Gulu. They will have the opportunity to interact with our team and local community, learn about the challenges and triumphs of starting a social enterprise, and develop their skills in a unique and dynamic setting. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to make a real impact by contributing their expertise and experience to our mission of empowering women through the apparel industry. We believe that our workawayers will leave with a deeper understanding of the power of community-based solutions, as well as valuable professional and personal growth.

We have a house in the village with WiFi, solar electricity, and piped water. We are a bit off the grid. Our guests would live with my husband and me and can use our guest bedroom. It's a shared house with a shared bathroom and toilet indoors and outdoors, a big kitchen with everything you need to cook, and a large bedroom just for you. Our house is a 30-minute bike ride or boda (motorcycle taxi) from the town center. We have a few bikes to share, but if not, we also have a motorcycle on call that can take you to and from town for about $2 each way.
You will be part of our meal plan at work and will have lunch provided for you along with our other staff, and back home you will have food supplies that you can use to make yourself a mealAutres infos...
I think you will be able to experience life from a different culture, mainly the Luo culture. You get to interact with a lot of our staff that will look to you for guidance in so many things. Most of my staff are school dropouts that do actually have the potential to be so much more and would benefit greatly from someone who would show them a different way of doing things, someone coming from a different place or way of life. So I am actually looking for someone who likes to inspire. I hope this is you.
Additionally, there are a lot of parks close by like Murchison, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, bars if you like that, good restaurants if you like food, lots of cultural shows, and a big market for farmers' products. It's a great opportunity to explore and immerse yourself in the local culture while making a positive impact.Informations complémentaires
