Volunteer work in teaching program
In this program, volunteers are placed in public schools or in rural communities to teach conversational English and reading skills to children and adults. Volunteers can also teach other skills; for example working with the computer, hand crafting, drawing, painting, designing and sports. Volunteers can use the resources available in schools and communities or can arrange them themselves.
In Nepal, English is becoming more and more a required skill for obtaining a job, educational advancement and future success. You do not need to have formal teaching qualifications to teach English at a Nepali school, just a good command of written and spoken English, plenty of enthusiasm and a lot of patience.
1. Teaching English ( language Practise) :-Volunteers in the teaching English project mostly teach conversational English (2-3 hours a day) in a public school for six days a week. Most of the students in the school are between the age of 6 and 16. Volunteers will be assisted by other teachers in the school. In your free time, you can organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities. Volunteers are also expected to help with taking the kids on educational tours, helping them with their homework, monitoring academic progress, and in administration. In Nepal, there is one English teacher in each school who follows a fixed English curriculum. Most of the time you will follow this fixed English curriculum (each grade has their own English book). You can work as a main teacher or as an assistant to the main English teacher, depending on your confidence level and teaching experience.
2. Teaching English in a community learning center
Summary
In Nepal, English is becoming more and more a required skill for getting a job, educational advancement and future success. The English language children learn in school is not sufficient when they cannot pay for an additional English language class. These children spend their time playing rather than studying, because their guardians can’t support their studies due to their own illiteracy.
The primary purpose of the project is to offer community children the opportunity to develop their English language knowledge, help them with their homework and provide a beneficial and positive way of spending their time (rather than taking up playing and gambling). As a volunteer, you have an important role in helping the community.
3. Working with children:
As a volunteer in the children project, you will teach English (2-3 hours a day) in school (when the kids go to schools during the day). You will help the kids stay clean by helping them brush their teeth, shower, and with their personal hygiene. In your free time, mostly in the evening, you can organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education or extra curricular activities. In the evening time volunteers will help kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, and make sure kids complete the following day's homework. Your help is also expected with dressing kids, food distribution, kitchen help, gardening, cleaning and administrative work.
4. Volunteer work with Developmentally Disabled children
As a volunteer in the Developmental Disabilities program, you will work in a special school where you can teach and help the children. You will teach and play games, participate in and organize drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities
5. Farming:- Organic Farming
Volunteers working in this project in Nepal will engage themselves in work on the farm of the host family or in a nursery that raises seedlings. The work includes: digging, preparing nursery beds, sowing seeds, weeding, trimming, and pruning, filling plastic bags, watering, and any work related to the nursery. Other tasks may include feeding and keeping cattle, collecting seeds and work with the host family to learn farming.Langues

From the time you arrive until you complete your volunteering program you will live with your host family. In the home of your host family you can eat Nepali food with the family members twice a day (around 9 o' clock in the morning and 7 o' clock in the evening) daily. Tea is served in the morning and in the afternoon. In the house you will live as part of the family. By living with a Nepalese family, volunteers will have the unique opportunity to connect on a personal level with its people and culture and have an excellent opportunity to use new language skills.
Autres infos...
The main focus of our project is to encourage volunteers to raise awareness of the importance of education and to help provide the community with the relevant skills to build towards a self-sufficient society. Most importantly, the fees contributed by volunteers will help to establish a much needed community learning centre. Volunteers can see their contributions at work first hand by working within one of these learning centres. The Learning Centre will provide villagers with an opportunity to acquire the basic knowledge and conversational sales skills required so as to make a consistent income. Programs among others include tailoring (design), handcrafts and bio-paper making.
We have been successfully working towards its goal of education improvement of the Rural Community and Schools. We hope to become the catalyst in the regeneration of health, education, social and cultural change in a number of surrounding villages in the Chitwan area. We are in collaboration with the National Park Buffer Zone user committee, including numerous government schools and community youth clubs.Informations complémentaires
