Description
Hi I'm Hugi, nice to e-meet you. 😊
Currently I'm looking for last minute house sitters who can help me to maintain the vegetable garden, vineyard and orchards. Jobs would mainly involve cutting grass, weeding, watering and assisting in DIY building projects.
It would be ideal for someone looking to stay in a quite, rural, green area where you wake up for birds singing and going to sleep for the sound of crickets.
Can you live without all modern cons? No TV, no microwave.. Do you mind using camping shower and compost toilet?
About me:
After my graduation in Hungary I have lived in Ireland for 11 years then moved to the UK where I currently work as a Live-in Carer for elderly on a few weeks on-few weeks off basis.
When I'm off work I try to keep the family tradition of wine and pálinka making alive on the recently inherited lands of small family vineyard and orchards in Hungary.
I'd like to learn and experiment various organic/permaculture/regenerative practices and at the same time, slowly but surely making my endless list of eco dream projects into practice by creating a quirky holiday home at the vineyard. 🙂
If you are interested in sustainable living, DIY building projects, carpentry,
woodworking, upcycling, junk art, arts & crafts - your are more than welcome to join my daily adventures - any help would be much appreciated!
One of the main projects I need help with is clearing out the houses, renovating, decorating, upcycling, etc.
My late dad had built a nice A-frame brick house with a wine cellar on one of the fields that was not in use for years..
It has a living room, kitchen and 2 bedrooms upstairs. It has no bathroom yet - it is one of the projects to complete.
On the next field there is a tiny 1 bed house with another cellar that is used as a hang out/dining place in the hot summer.. A terrace, a toilet and a kitchen are to be renovated on this house, too.🙂
And the list goes on and on..
There are many other projects if you like DIY junk art. My late dad had been collecting leftover building materials that he had planned to reuse, upcycle, create art from.. - it would be amazing if we could accomplish some of his ideas.. 🙏🤍
There are plenty of materials to use your creativity and imagination and to create sg useful or just simply beautiful things with a twist of art.. 🙂
I have been involved in organising music events, festivals, songwriting camps and planning to create a place/community for the same on the vineyard.
The ideas are endless as regards to what we could create on the fields, apart from gardening, just a few more to mention: building a book exchange/library in the woods, a playground not just for kids 😎, a pool, a stopover for cyclists (warmshower app) , an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor bath... Mainly using a mix of the leftover building materials and natural building techniques and natural, local, recycled materials like bamboo cane, stones, wine bottles etc..
I just need partners in crime with a creative mind (and preferably muscles to be able to move things around) who likes junkart and doesn't mind to get their hands dirty.. 😎
Hoping to connect with easy-going, open-minded, can-do and will-do attitude people, who are not afraid of thinking outside the box. 💫
It's great to share our life experiences, knowledge and skills while we do sg useful & meaningful in a quiet, rural, green & chilled atmosphere. 🙌
Please note We use an outdoor shower with cold water or heating water up on the hop and using a bucket& camping shower. There is a compost toilet.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

It's a great oppo to experience living in a relaxed, quiet life on a countryside away from it all 🧘♀️ off-grid
You could learn with me about growing fruits and veg, how to make wine and pálinka in general.
I would be happy to make some traditional Hungarian cuisines and could teach you Hungarian if you are interested in learning 'the third most difficult language to learn' in the world. 🤓Projets impliquant des enfants

Garden projects 🐛
🌱Spring - preparing the soil, sowing seeds, pruning fruit trees and vine,etc..
Fixing vine support structures.
🌻Summer - includes grass cutting using trimmer and syche, picking various types of fruits, veg & herbs and conserving them in various ways.
🍇September/October - usually the grape harvesting time. This is when I need many helping hands the most with picking grapes, apples, pears, quince, walnuts and making wine and pálinka. Sadly, this year, in 2023, 90% of the grapes has been damaged by the bad weather conditions, so no need help with harvesting.. 😔
❄️After harvest the preparation of the garden starts for next year's fruition including replanting vine, fertilising with animal manouvering, maintenance of vine roots etc..
🃏All year around we can work on one of the fields that is a jungle atm: full of wild vine and elderflower.. Cutting overgrown bushes, creating path, making raised beds, creating a fence around all the fields using wood from the jungle, etc.
In the winter there aren't many jobs in the garden and I'm not always around, however I'm looking for people who would be happy to housesit on a remote countryside.
It would suit someone who likes an alternative lifestyle, loves nature and the out doors and is happy to spend time on their own.
DIY/Building/Upcycling 👩🔧
There are different DIY projects all year around that would require some experience/interest in creative DIY, construction, gardening, arts&crafts.
I prefer unusual, quirky, unique, natural building style rather than straight lines and even surfaces.. 🤯
All to create from recycling materials as much as possible, in a natural, unique, creative way.♻️
There are plenty of wild vine, hazelnut, elderflower, bamboo, walnut that can be used to create various things from ea. :furniture, decoration, arts&crafts..Langues parlées

Hungarian: CourantHébergement
There are parking places available for campervans/caravans/motorhomes..
There are beds for max 6ppl in the main house, but you are welcome to sleep on the terrace (my favourite spot in the summer) or in a hammock on the trees or in a tent on the fields - there are plenty of choices off-grid! 😉
Beddings will be provided if u don't have your own.
You can cook your own food or we can share cooking - as you wish.
Please note there is no running water nor a suege system in the area.
We use an outdoor shower and an outdoor dry compost toilet.
There is fresh water from a well (40m) for consumption and rain water for other purposes.
If you are a skilled workawayer let me know and I'm happy to pay a pre-agreed price for your work! 🤝Autres infos...
As the location is remote and located on a countryside surrounded by fields of crops, woods & vineyards
-be aware that there are all kinds of luvly creatures living around us like 🦊🦌🐭🐇🐀🦔🐿️🦇🦨🦎🐜🐛🦋🐌🐝🕷️🕸️🦟🦗🐞 - no wild animals that would do any harm to ppl though 😁
-the centre of the village is about 40mins walk away, or you could use my bike or can take a train/bus to discover the nearest big cities: Siófok or Székesfehérvár or you could travel to/around the largest lake in Central Europe that has also been referred to as the Hungarian sea - Lake Balaton🌊 🏄♂️🚣🏊♂️🚵♂️Informations complémentaires
