Description
Hi! We’re a small community group in Thessaloniki, Greece. We started in 2012 with the simple idea that people grow stronger together—by sharing food, skills, and stories. Today we run community gardens, we cook for people in need, we facilitate food related workshops, and activities with both locals and newcomers.
What We Do
We like to keep our hands busy and our hearts open. Some of our activities include:
🌱 Gardening in schools and neighborhoods
🍞 Cooking and food workshops (bread, pickles, marmalade, tomato sauce, etc.)
🎉 Joining festivals, protests, and cultural events in the city
🌍 Erasmus+ exchanges and solidarity projects with friends abroad -

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
With us, cultural exchange happens naturally every day. We cook, garden, and share life together—so there’s always a chance to learn something new.
Workawayers can join our cooking workshops (from making traditional koulouri of Thessaloniki to pickling vegetables or experimenting with new recipes), help in our gardens, save and distribute food, or take part in local festivals and community events. These activities bring you close to both locals and newcomers (including refugees and migrants), giving you a unique window into everyday solidarity and grassroots life in Greece.
We’re always happy to share stories about the social movements in Thessaloniki, the idea of solidarity in practice, and the way communities here organize around food and housing. In return, we love to learn from our guests—new recipes, languages, music, and perspectives on how communities work in other parts of the world.
In short, you won’t just be “helping” here—you’ll be living alongside us, sharing meals, skills, laughter, and maybe even starting friendships that last long after your stay. -
Aide
There’s always something going on! You might:
save food from street market, super markets, bakeries, farmers
help in the garden,
cook or share your own recipes,
distribute our cooked hot community meals, fruits and vegetables,
support our workshops and events,
or bring in your own skills—art, music, social media, languages, whatever you love.
We really like when volunteers bring new ideas and energy, so don’t be shy! -

Hébergement
You’ll usually stay in a small autonomous room with its own bathroom in the semi-floor of our community place. The space is simple but cozy, with everything you need for a comfortable stay—bed, shared kitchen, and common areas where we cook and relax together.
Meals are often shared, and we love cooking with local or fair-trade ingredients. Sometimes we all eat together at our community place, sometimes at home—it depends on the day’s activities.
Thessaloniki is a lively city, and our places are well connected by bus or within walking distance to markets, cafés, and the beautiful seaside promenade. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the city and also enjoy quiet moments with the group. -
Autres infos...
In your free time, there’s a lot to enjoy in Thessaloniki! You can wander along the seaside promenade, visit the White Tower and the old town (Ano Poli), explore markets full of local flavors, or just sit in a café and soak up the city’s atmosphere. Day trips to nearby beaches, Mount Olympus, or thermal baths are easy by bus or train.
We try to live simply and respectfully—sharing meals, keeping spaces clean, and looking out for one another. No strict “rules,” but we appreciate good communication, flexibility, and a cooperative spirit.
Public transport is easy to use, with buses running across the city. Most things are close by, so walking and cycling are also great options. And of course, we’re always happy to give tips on hidden gems around the city! -
