Description
Life on a Caribbean hillside family farm. Our goal is to live as much as possible from our own gardens. We’re not a commercial operation. Farm and garden, building and landscaping projects. We’re in a heavenly valley in
the Northwest hills of St Croix US Virgin Islands. 2 miles down a deep valley road are white sand beaches and the quant town of Frederiksted. We’re planting tropical fruit trees, and gardening food crops, with a house building project well underway. Owners Mathilde and Bruce are seasoned agriculturists, community builders and environmentalists. St Croix is a Caribbean crossroads; food, dance, and music from so many cultures. Our local culture explores its deep ties to Africa alongside a dynamic colonial history that saw the flags of seven counties. Some of the best hikes in the Caribbean start at our doorstep. We need early risers, looking for 4-5 hours weekdays only. A great apartment with kitchen. We’ll help with food buying . We have a dog, two cats and a thoroughbred horse. Outdoor work: carpentry and painting, garden planting, harvest, bed creation.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

For a kaleidoscope or culture St Croix is hard to beat: Afro-caribbean with French, Spanish, Amerindian, India and US culture medley.. Mathilde is a Haitian cook and knows Caribbean agricultural practices, especially small farm sustainable method. Bruce knows St Croix natural history and hiking and camping and environmental background.

It’s a 20 minute downhill shady walk to endless sand beach. Restaurants, museum, pier, dive shops in Frederiksted town 5 miles from our place. There’s public transport to main town of Christiansted. Hiking from our farm to extensive undeveloped nearby Annaly Bay Area. Just hanging out on the farm is pretty nice.
