    WELCOME TO OUR FARM!

We live in South Head, close to Muriwai Beach, Parakai Springs and Shelly Beach.

Our 5-acre lifestyle farm has ocean views, unlimited Starlink internet, kayaks, archery equipment, slug guns, outdoor fires, a rumpus room, pool table and gardens.

We are a homeschooling family with six friendly children and a busy lifestyle farm with pigs, sheep, cattle, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, beehives, a dog and a cat.

We also run a volunteer non-profit homeschool group from our farm, with weekly activities, outings and community events.

Many of our Workawayers enjoy joining in with family life, sharing their skills with the children and experiencing everyday Kiwi culture.

Share your language and culture with us!

We are all doing this for learning about each other.

Speaking English whenever possible in the household is a great way to practice/learn – we are more than happy to help you get the words right!
We do request that when you are around the table for meals conversations are held in English – we consider meals a social thing. No cellphones are allowed to be used around the children or anything shown to the children.

We have NZ movies, some stories and Māori culture books.
We would love you to teach our kids and us your language in return.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

You will be staying in our dedicated classroom, which doubles as our Workaway accommodation. It is a comfortable, private space with a comfortable bed and great view.

Every Thursday, the classroom is transformed into our homeschool space for our Life Learners programme. On these days, the bed is packed away to make room for classes. Many of our Workawayers enjoy joining in, sharing their own skills, helping with workshops, or simply getting to know our wonderful homeschooling families. If that's not your thing, you're welcome to relax in the house, enjoy the property, or head out and explore the local area for the day.

You'll have full access to the house, including the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and shared living spaces.

All meals are provided. We supply breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus snacks, and we take pride in serving hearty, home-cooked meals using produce from our farm whenever possible. You'll certainly never go hungry!

We aren't the right host for vegans, vegetarians, or very fussy eaters. We completely understand that everyone has foods they don't particularly enjoy, but unless you have an allergy or medical dietary requirement, we ask that you keep negative comments about food to yourself. Our children are learning to be adventurous eaters, and we work hard to create a positive environment around mealtimes.

    Living on Our Lifestyle Farm
Our farm is a true lifestyle block, and everyone contributes to keeping it running. We care for a range of animals, grow as much of our own food as possible, and are always working towards becoming more self-sufficient. We use our animals responsibly for food and for products such as eggs, wool, and hides, and we are passionate about teaching children where food comes from.

As part of our family during your stay, we encourage you to get involved in everyday life. This gives you the best experience while also helping make everything run smoothly.

There are daily routines for feeding and caring for the animals, cleaning up after meals, and general household tasks.

Everyone helps out. Following the checklists carefully is important.

We ask that you clean up after yourself, keep your room and shared spaces tidy, wash and put away anything you use, and return tools and equipment to where they belong. We really appreciate people who take initiative, notice when something needs doing, and enjoy being part of a hardworking, supportive team.

If you enjoy country life, don't mind getting your hands dirty, and love becoming part of a busy family, we're sure you'll have a fantastic time here.
