    Description

We're starting a drama/dance studio to give the youth a much needed creative outlet, while battling the slow death of the arts in Belize and would love some extra eyes, ears and hands to hammer out logistics. If you're a theatre kid, dancer, or art enthusiast we need your help!

I'm a multi-hyphenate black, creative (they/he) from Belize looking for buddy to help me keep all those hyphens in in order ya know?
I'm running online fitness classes, pet sitting / volunteer fostering, and looking to start a mini performing arts school, amidst my artistic callings of cosplay, writing, music, voice acting and a host of other ADHD fueled passions all from home in a fervent attempt to do something productive and meaningful and hopefully never ever ever ever ever work behind a desk again.
    Stick to one thing? NEVER
    Begging for help? mm possibly

If you're a fellow creative (physical media, digital art, literature, theatre, crafter etc.), OR fitness/ movement instructor (dance, yoga, pilates, contortion, calisthenics etc.), OR pet person, social media buff, bilingual or if you're just really funny and wanna hang out and distract me from my mountain of self inflicted obligations, come through! (this is also a girl/gay/they-friendly and neurodivergent-friendly pitstop option if you find yourself in rough waters while traveling and need a place to crash for a bit, just let me know what your needs are, and how/if i can help.)

Must be *nice and *fun and *chill! if you're *mean, and *boring, and/or degrees around or above *lukewarm.. don't come here):)

PS: We’ll be working with children and families so unfortunately, cannot host if you are ill or recovering from a contagious illness.

FOOD. Belizean food is it's true gift of culture to the world. We're so blessed to live on the equator, the literal center of it all and have such a unique creolization of cultures and dishes that taste like the home you never knew but always longed for. And if you like to drink, Belizean rum is boss. The rich Caribbean and Latin American vibes have a beautiful marriage here.

    BUT BUT BUT!
Belize will be a stop for you on your journey but it is my birth country and ultimately my home, so i know from experience where it is lacking. Among so many blessing and many faults alike, we're missing a key component of respect for our own bodies, and the bodies and hearts or our most vulnerable (children, elders, and animals). My endeavors/projects want to see those needs met with empathy and respect. (even though it is a small drop in the pond, it does matter and is like super important to me okay so be nice)
As the world shifts it's important that one thing remains, and that is the stewardship we have as humans.
I am not the spokesperson for Ethical Tourism but i know that as travelers, it's our responsibility to keep giving back to the places we visit and consume from and at worse leave them as we found them.

I want my projects to fill the needs i know my home has and reflect the love birth of the frustrations i have as a result. Arts, Movement, and humane care of animals is how I'm giving and i want people just as empathetic to help me see it through.

    Maximum 3-5 hours a day, 4 days a week

While i'd love to be able to do everything everywhere all at once all on my own, that's just not physically possible huh :D And My four fur-kids and my ol' man aren't really the hands-on types if you can imagine.

There's stuff that needs to be done on the business endeavor side and in the household to keep it all running, so...

If you can help with any of these that'd be ace:

    Studio:
    - Help drafting and executing lesson plans, keeping the kids engaged and inspired.
    - Teaching assistant duties (managing music, demonstrating movements, participating in games/activities)
    - Subbing for fitness classes or hosting your own (under your niche)
    - Marketing: making ads and doing talks at schools to get the word out there.
    - Answering emails and reaching out to local establishments for collaborations
    - Drafting articles and physical education content
    - Documenting classes and providing feedback.
    - Crafting props and costumes, shopping for materials
    - Coming up with show ideas, location scouting and floor planning (we may need to travel out-district for some events)
    - decorating (renter friendly) making the space look nice (posters, signage, plants, lighting etc.)
    - Cleaning up and class prep

    Household:
    - Pet care (grooming, feeding, playing) and sitting on occasion for me or any fosters hanging around.
    - diy projects. Just moved into a new place so we got to zush it up a little (i wanna make a make shift couch, some dance barres and some custom wallpaper at some point)
    - general tidying and chores
    - house sitting on occasion.

*honestly there's always something to do around here that i could use extra hands, eyes, ears and ideas on so we can definitely find something that a good fit for you*

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

You'll have your own room with a double or single bed (with a wide array of birds to greet you at your window) and access to one of two bathrooms (so you don't have to share!). Kitchen access as well (beware, there is a freezer but there is no fridge at the moment). I really don't cook big meals often, so you'll have to plan for your own meals ahead of time, but when i do have the time, I'll make you something nice :) There're plenty of walkable options for food and groceries.'

If you've got a van/ camper there's plenty of parking space and a yard for your pet to runabout if you've got one.

We have some storage space if you'd have to leave anything behind to be shipped to you later on.

I've got a little set up with weights, blocks, and a few mats so you don't have to worry about skipping gym.

And there's a machine for your laundry.

Almost everything you need to survive is within walking distance (grocery stores, market, tacos, bus terminal, mechanic and even a pub). We're right on the Mexican border so you can take a trip over whenever you like. And the sea isn't far away if you like a nice salty swim! If time (and money) allows I'd be more than willing to keep you company on tours, adventures, and quests around the town and country.

The net speed is pretty decent, but because of the pub it can get a little loud at certain times. I schedule my classes for the most part in the early evenings, but since we're only just beginning, we can work out scheduling together to accommodate your work as well
