  Description

  We’re a couple living on the beautiful island of Brač in Croatia, together with our two dogs and our cat. We have a piece of land with an old olive grove that we’re slowly clearing, restoring, and developing into something really special.
  
  We’re passionate about the land and have lots of ideas for what we would like to create there. Like many things in life, though, other priorities sometimes come first, so progress has been gradual. We’re now at the stage where we’d love some extra hands to help us move things forward.
  
  The project is still at an early stage, so most of the help is outdoors and can include clearing overgrowth, planting new olive trees, maintaining the terraces, and helping to rebuild traditional dry stone walls.
  
  We’re learning as we go and certainly don’t pretend to be experts. What we do have is plenty of enthusiasm, a real love for the land, and the desire to create something meaningful and lasting. It’s a lovely opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn new skills, enjoy island life, and be part of bringing an olive grove back to life.

  Staying on Brač is a chance to experience island life in Croatia. You can learn about olive growing, traditional Dalmatian stonework, and local ways of looking after the land. There’s also time to enjoy the island itself - the sea, small villages, and the slower pace of life here.
  The art of Dalmatian dry-stone walling is inscribed on the UNESCO Representative list of Humanity.

  Aide

  Most of the help takes place outdoors in and around our olive grove. Tasks may include clearing bushes and grass, planting new olive trees, maintaining the land, and helping to build or repair traditional dry stone walls around the terraces. The art of dry stone walling is inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and this work will always be carried out with the guidance and assistance of one of the hosts.
  
  The help is physical but varied, and the type of tasks will depend on the season, weather, and progress of the grove. There is usually something different to do from day to day.
  
  All help is offered strictly on a voluntary, unpaid basis. This is not paid employment, and no wages or salary are provided. We provide the tools, equipment, and machinery needed for the agreed tasks, and volunteers will be shown how to use them safely where appropriate.
  
  We also strongly recommend that all Workawayers arrange their own suitable travel and personal accident insurance before arrival. Your insurance should be appropriate for the activities you plan to take part in and should ideally include cover for volunteering, outdoor physical activities, medical treatment, accidents, and personal belongings. Each volunteer is responsible for checking that their chosen insurance provides adequate cover for their stay.

  Hébergement

  You’ll stay in a comfortable two-bedroom apartment with its own kitchen and bathroom, so you’ll have a nice space to relax and feel at home during your stay. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has two single beds, making it suitable for couples, friends, or solo travellers.
  
  On the days we work together on the land, meals will be provided. We enjoy sharing food and making this part of the experience feel social and relaxed. If for any reason we’re not able to prepare a meal on a particular day, we’ll make sure you have ingredients available so you can cook something for yourself in the apartment.

  Autres infos...

  In your free time there’s plenty to enjoy on Brač. The island is known for its beaches, clear sea, and small historic towns. You can swim, walk, or explore the old stone villages nearby. Supetar and Bol are easy to reach by bus or car, and ferries connect the island to Split on the mainland. It’s a good chance to see both the quieter side of island life and the more lively towns along the coast.
