Are you familiar with reindeer herding? It is the oldest practice in Lapland. In my family we have had reindeer for many generations.
Not only do I share and educate daily our guests who visit our place but I would also like for you to see the culture and be part of the reindeer herding life during your stay here.
Daily we take care of the reindeer and drive them with sleds. Working with reindeer is similar to working with donkeys or cats i would say. They have their own mind and if they don’t like to do something, they absolutely won’t do it.
Animal welfare is really important for me and that our animals are treated well.
Part of the reindeer herding is also that we eat and use every part of the reindeer. This is something that you should keep in your mind when entering my place. You are not part of the meat process but you might find reindeer skins and meat from our place as it is quite normal here. This could come as a culture shock for some so I talk openly about it.

Hello adventure seekers! I’m offering a unique and exciting opportunity for someone interested in working as a guide in Levi, Lapland. I’m also looking for volunteers so if you don’t fill up all the requirements you could first volunteer and see how it is to live and work in Lapland, Finland.
I have founded our tiny company in Levi, Lapland, Finland in 2019 just before the pandemic! My company does unique small tours with reindeer, huskies, snowshoes and northern lights.
I followed my ancestors footsteps and chose to start growing my own reindeer herd. Nowadays I do small tours with my reindeer and our guests can interact with my animals. I share my life daily with our guest about reindeer herding and tell the story of how my family have had reindeer for many generations. Reindeer herding has been seen as a “man's work” but in my family me and my cousin are both women who have chosen to run our own businesses that are focused around reindeer.
This work is for a truly outdoor personality. We work daily outside, no matter is it raining or snowing or cold temperatures like -35c, animals require care and we adjust ourself for these arctic conditions.
I require my staff to be physically in good shape as you work closely with big animals and machinery that is not for anyone who has some problems with health, back, knee etc.
If you prove to be an excellent guide that I can trust around our animals you might have a permanent place here in Levi!
Mandatory Requirements:
B Driver's Licence: A valid B driver's licence is required, for transportation and related tasks, we don’t have good public transportation here in Levi.
English Language: English is the primary language used for work and communication with our guests.
Hygiene Pass: A simple test about food hygienic and cleanest. With common sense anyone can pass it!
First Aid Skills 1 & 2, It’s important that you have necessary skills to help yourself, your partner or our guest in case of emergency situation.
Additional Advantages (Considered as Pluses):
Photography and Photo Editing Skills: In the evening tours we “hunt northern lights” and part of your job is to try to capture them!
Extensive Language Skills: Knowledge of additional languages beyond English is really helpful with our international guests.
Driving Skills in Snowy Conditions: Familiarity with driving in snowy conditions with different vehicles is valuable as you would be living in the arctic climate.
Map and compass: You don’t need to be an expert but a certain interest for navigation is required.
Most important is that you are an honest person. Our animals are like a family to me, I have spent years training them and taking care of them. So I'm trusting you treat them with the same love and respect too.
Work Timeline:
The work typically begins in early November with training and familiarisation with coworkers, including the furry four-legged ones (dogs and reindeer).Customers start arriving gradually. The work season generally ends around March-April.
We work when other people have holidays so be prepared to work during Christmas and new year! Maybe this Christmas you will be feeding my reindeer and having a cup of hot chocolate next to a campfire or celebrating the new year under stars and northern lights?
Work permit or Visa: If you are a citizen of a country that is not an EU member state or one of the Nordic countries, you need a residence permit for Finland. If you apply for a residence permit based on work, you must first find a job in Finland.
Salary: We will follow Finland's collective agreement for the Adventure services sector, meaning you will be compensated fairly in your salary.
Langues parlées
Anglais: Courant
Finnish: Courant
Hébergement
Accommodation: I offer accommodation on Levi centre, which allows for easy access to recreational activities during your free time. The accommodation is a studio apartment for two (friends or couple) it also has a Finnish Sauna!
No Need for a Car: You won't need your own car to get to work. This is particularly important in a remote location like Lapland, where transportation options may be limited.
Accommodation is located near S supermarket. It has buss connections and everything is in walking distance.
Closest supermarket is less than 200m away.
My reindeer farm is located 12km away from the accommodation (we will organise you a car or transfer to work).

If you want to see more about my daily life with reindeer
I highly recommend you to check it out as I show a lot about my culture and animals there. This is the channel I educate also about reindeer herding. It is a lifestyle, away of life.

Francesco arrived just on time for my Christmas season when we are the most busy here in Lapland, Finland. During December can be -30c degrees cold and no sun light at all, not everyone can work under such conditions but this didn't slow this man at all!
