    Description

Our project is rooted in meaningful travel and wellness. We’re creating spaces surrounded by nature and tranquility — yet just a short distance from the main city. It’s the best of both worlds for those who enjoy the balance between cosmopolitan life and peaceful natural surroundings.

The journey began as a guest house and spa, but it soon became clear that wellness needed to go deeper than treatments alone. We started weaving in community outreach programs, especially with a nearby island community in Inhaca, just off the coast of Maputo.

This is a family project at heart. My daughters, Rosa Sasha, Filita Alberto, and Nicole Checo, joined after their gap year traveling through Asia, where they developed a deep connection to the purpose behind our work. Rosa is our spokesperson, Nicole and my son-in-law, Nuno Manhiça, coordinate volunteers and logistics.

Due to social and political instabilities (strikes) in October last year, we had to pause all activities for a while. Now we’re gradually reopening and focusing on restoring and revitalizing the space.

At this stage, we welcome volunteers who wish to be part of this renewal. Our main needs include:

General maintenance and light outdoor projects

    Gardening (vegetable and botanical gardens)

Painting, small repairs, electrical or plumbing work

    Social media and communication support

It’s a calm environment guided by purpose and community. We move at a natural rhythm — combining practical work with moments of connection and reflection. Volunteers who appreciate meaningful contribution and simplicity will feel at home here.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

I have been a nomad for the past 20 years, my experience is that each individual I encounter is a universe of experiences. I am looking forward to sharing my travel experiences as well as learning from the people I host. We have a passion for arts and crafts, my daughter has done paint exhibitions in india and I am preparing for a sculpture exhibition myself.

*Guidelines* Welcome to our little corner of calm. We host volunteers who enjoy nature, mindful work, and shared simplicity. This note helps everyone stay on the same page while keeping things relaxed and respectful. *Working Hours & Days* Around 4–5 hours a day, 5 days a week (usually Monday to Friday). Weekends are for your own rhythm — rest, explore, or just be. *What You’ll Help With* Most of the work involves: Gardening & maintenance — planting, watering, small repairs, keeping spaces beautiful. Helping keep common areas tidy and welcoming. Sometimes we might ask for help in other areas like carpentery, electrical and plumbing. *What We Offer* Comfortable accommodation (shared or private depending on availability). Access to kitchen and common spaces. Peaceful surroundings, nature, and time to recharge. Meals may be shared or self-prepared — we’ll confirm before you arrive. *Community Values* We keep things simple: Respect the land, the house, and each other. Stay kind and honest in your communication. No drugs or disruptive behavior — this is a place for calm presence. *Health & Responsibility** Please note: You volunteer at your own risk and should have your own travel/health insurance. We’re not responsible for accidents, illness, or personal loss that may occur on or off the property. Take care of your body and your belongings — and let us know if you need help. *Leaving Early* Plans change — if you need to leave earlier than expected, just let us know with some notice. Please note: we don't get involved with visa processing. We hope your time here brings a sense of grounding and connection. Let’s make it a meaningful exchange for both sides. With gratitude, Maria
