Hello!
We are a British couple restoring a property in L'isle Jourdain Vienne (86) (Poitou Charentes) parts of which are 1000 years old. We began this project about a year ago and have been turning what was an overgrown, leaky deathtrap into what we hope will be a beautiful home for our family.
The building itself is on an island separated from the town by a private bridge, and is only occupied by me (Helen), my husband (Moyed) 3 little yokies and two cats.
The nearest airports are Limoges and Poitiers (about an hour away by car) and it you drive there is plenty of space for a car here - in fact it's a great spot to explore the country on the weekends.
Our food is Mediterranean style ( also vegan options available)
You're welcome to come for anything for a week to month, and we would like someone to help for about 25 hours a week.
Due to a some bad experiences we also expect people to leave the place in the same clean state that it was when they arrived otherwise we will not leave a positive review! We do not allow smoking inside the building the garden or terraces are fine. We will also ask to see some ID.

We think you will love L'Isle Jordain as much as we do! Lots of beautiful walks , bungee jumping locally electric bike renting ,zip wire and paddle board board renting just down the road. We also have 2 pedalos available for use on site
We would welcome help with maintaining the garden, general DIY building projects. We are flexible on what time you start as long as the tasks are done and discussed with us.
If you want to learn new skills, get away from it all and love the idea of working on a bit of history you'll love it here.

You will be staying in the main building which has its own kitchen and bathroom-you may or may not have to share the bathroom and kitchen with one other person or couple but its a large space.
There is lots to do and see locally from bungee jumping from the viaduct ( behind our place) and a zip wire across the river minutes away. There is a municipal swimming pool (unfortunately closed for maintainance his year) just up the road and bars, restaurants and a large supermarket in L'isle Jourdain literally 10 mins walk away . The famous Val de Vienne circuit is literally around 4 miles away with its varied events from Ferrari,Porche and motorcycle racing.
