Description
Our orchard was started in 1850 by a British family in Khaprar Village in Uttarakhand. Our family with the help of local villagers and families now manages and runs a 55-acre orchard with Apple, Pear, Peach, Plum, Walnut, Cherry, Kiwi etc. trees which adjoins the Mahesh Khan forest. We are trying to bring better market access to the region so the villagers stop selling their lands for hotels and resorts and continue farming fruits and vegetables.
We are trying to sell Apple, Pear, Peach, Kiwi jam, some herbs, honey and mushrooms from our little store adjoining the Orchard and also develop a market for them in the Indian cities.
Our goal is to employ more people in the village and which will lead to reverse migration of young villagers who have left to work in cities. We want to preserve what's left of the natural habitat and convert the farm to an organic one. We want to encourage other farmers to do the same.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

You will learn about life in a small village and you can understand the problems locals are facing in the Himalayas. You will learn about the operations of an Apple Orchard and also Apple harvesting.
The place is located in the middle of a 55-acre apple orchard which is a 10 min walk from the neighbouring village of Dudkhanedar. The village has many small houses and a small children's school where you can also offer help.Aide
Looking for a photographer/writer to take pictures and write blog entries for our orchard. We want to use these pictures on instagram and facebook. We are planning to start a small store to sell local products and products which are produced on the farm. Our goal is to provide employment to the local villagers and encourage the younger generation to get back to farming.
