  Description

  Hi! I’m Daniel, 32, and I live here with my friend Aled, 26. We’re originally from the UK but now building a small off-grid homestead. Life here is relaxed — we balance practical learning with good food, movies, music, and laughter. The homestead is always evolving, so every stay is a little different.
  
  We focus on small DIY projects around the house, caring for the garden, planting, and general homestead upkeep. Everything is done at a flexible pace with the goal of learning and sharing skills. Evenings are often spent cooking, sharing meals, watching films, or relaxing with our dog and three cats. Volunteers are welcome to join in, relax, or explore the local area. We enjoy meeting open-minded, friendly people who like sharing stories and connecting in a calm, relaxed environment.

  Staying here is about sharing life and learning together. You will experience life on a small, evolving off-grid homestead, try practical skills like gardening and small DIY projects, and share your own culture or knowledge.
  
  We are originally from the UK, so English is our main language, but we are learning Portuguese. Evenings often involve cooking together, swapping recipes, watching movies, or chatting. We love meeting people who enjoy relaxed social time, sharing ideas, music, or traditions. There is also freedom to explore the local area and bring back insights about the surroundings, creating a rich exchange of ideas and experiences.

  Aide

  Volunteers can help with gardening, planting, and general plant care. You can join in on small DIY and maintenance tasks around the house while learning practical skills. Helping with cooking and sharing recipes is welcome, as well as general day-to-day tasks around the homestead.
  
  If you enjoy creative projects, you can help with photography, video, or social media. This is for personal, educational, or hobby purposes only and is not a commercial activity. It’s a chance to learn new skills and document life on the homestead in a relaxed environment.
  
  We are looking for people who enjoy a mix of practical learning and relaxed downtime. Most work is light and done together so you will be learning alongside us rather than being given a strict task list. Some days may involve helping in the garden or small DIY projects, other days are more about cooking, relaxing, or exploring the surroundings.
  
  Creative volunteers can help with filming or taking photos to document life on the homestead. This is purely for learning and sharing experiences and is not commercial. There is no pressure to be polished — we just like capturing real moments of off-grid living.
  
  There is no strict schedule. The main thing is contributing in a way that fits naturally with daily life. We enjoy meeting open-minded, laid-back volunteers who like a calm, friendly atmosphere.

  Hébergement

  We can provide a clean, secure, and comfortable place to sleep. Accommodation is rustic but cozy, giving you a real feel for off-grid life.
  
  Although if you have a van or a campervan it could be a lot more comfortable, we can provide water and power direct to your home.
  
  We usually cook and share meals using local and home-grown ingredients, but volunteers can also prepare their own food or contribute to groceries. There is plenty of space to relax, enjoy the surroundings, or take quiet time.

Also we do live near some powerlines, this can be off putting for some people.

As long as you can contribute in some way to make life here easier, whether that is helping with gardening, cooking, small DIY projects, or daily tasks, you will fit in fine.

  Espace pour garer des vans

  Right now we are still setting up a septic system, so bringing a camper or motorhome is the easiest way to stay. We provide water and power hookups, and there is plenty of space to park on the land. If you don’t have a van, we can make up a simple, comfortable room. The atmosphere is relaxed and homely, perfect for open-minded people who enjoy being outdoors, chilling, and connecting with others.

  Possibilité d'accueillir les animaux

  We have a dog and three cats, so animal lovers will feel at home. We are open to volunteers bringing pets as long as they are friendly and get along with ours. Please let us know in advance so we can make sure everyone is comfortable. Pipoca has been attacked in the past so she can be nervous.
