🏔️ Volunteer in the Cloud Forest: Goats, Cheese and Regeneration in Veracruz, Mexico

Location: Cloud forest mountains near Xico, Veracruz

Hosts: A small family farm running on solar power
There is 4 paid staff members, two are family members.

    Volunteers needed: 2

Stay: In our Octagome glamping tent (yurt-style dome)

    🌿 The Adventure

High up in the misty mountains of Veracruz, our small dairy farm hums with life.

The mornings start with the bleating of goats, the smell of fresh-cut grass, and the sound of the forest waking up.

We make cheese, sell it at the farmer’s market, and live off the rhythm of nature through solar power, a biodigester, forest water, and meaningful, rewarding work.

Right now, we are expanding our crops from grass to banana, coffee, blueberries, and fruit trees, and we need adventurous souls to help us make it happen.

Your main quest is gathering goat manure from under the barn and moving it around the farm to fertilize new planting areas. It is earthy, honest work that feels good for both the body and the mind.

    🏕️ Life on the Farm

You will stay in a cozy Octagome glamping tent, with mountain views and the sounds of forest birds instead of alarms. The farm runs on solar power, and we live close to nature. It is rustic but deeply peaceful.

We provide basic farm food: rice, beans, tortillas, oats, eggs, cheese, fruits, and vegetables. The town is a 45-minute walk away if you need snacks or supplies.

    🌱 Why Come

If you are looking for luxury, this is not it. But if you crave something real, work that matters, land that breathes, and a way of living that reconnects you to the earth, this is your place.

You will leave with dirty boots, strong hands, and a head full of mountain air.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

Our farm is a meeting point between traditional life in rural Mexico and a modern vision of sustainability.

Volunteers become part of the rhythm here, learning about goat care, cheese making, and how to live off-grid with solar power and a biodigester.

We often cook and eat together, sharing stories, music, and ideas under the fog.

You’ll have the chance to meet local farmers at the weekly market and see how people in the mountains of Veracruz live in harmony with nature. We enjoy learning from visitors about their cultures, foods, and ways of thinking, and we hope every exchange here leaves both sides inspired to live a little closer to the earth.

  • Aide

    Aide

Most of the help we need is outdoors and hands-on. Volunteers help collect goat manure from under the barn and move it to new planting areas as we expand from grass to banana, coffee, blueberries, and fruit trees. It’s physical work but deeply rewarding, surrounded by mountains and cloud forest.

You’ll also help during goat milking, mainly cleaning the milking area and feeding the baby goats. Work starts early at 7:00 am, with a breakfast break at 9:30, and finishes around 2:30 pm. One day a week is free for exploring, hiking, or resting.

We often work together in small groups, and you’ll learn how we manage a solar-powered, off-grid farm with a biodigester and natural water system. You can also learn the basics of cheese making and regenerative farming if you’re curious.

This is a good fit for people who enjoy the outdoors, animals, and simple living close to nature.

    Hébergement

Volunteers stay in our Octagome glamping tent, a spacious yurt-style tent with a view of the mountains and surrounded by cloud forest. It is cozy, clean, and fully protected from rain and bugs with beds.

You will fall asleep to the sound of crickets and wake up to birds and goats.

We provide basic farm food including rice, beans, tortillas, oats, eggs, cheese, fruits, and vegetables.

You can cook your own meals in the shared kitchen, and there is always coffee and fresh cheese around.

The town is a 45-minute walk away if you want to buy extras or local treats.

The farm runs on solar power and uses a biodigester for biogas, so we live simply and close to nature.

Showers are a dip in the river (no soap or bug spray to keep it pristine) ideally after work and the atmosphere is peaceful and authentic.

  • Autres infos...

    Autres infos...

The farm is remote and peaceful, about a 45-minute walk from town.

We live surrounded by forest, so it is perfect for people who enjoy nature, quiet, and simple living.

On your day off, you can hike to nearby waterfalls, explore the mountain trails, or visit the local farmers market in Coatepec.

The weather can change quickly in the cloud forest, so bring clothes for both sun and rain, and rubber boits that can handle mud.

We value respect for the animals, the land, and the people who live here.

Everyone helps keep the shared spaces clean and contributes to the rhythm of farm life.

There is no nightlife or big stores nearby, but there is plenty of beauty, peace, and good company.

This is a place for people who want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

We can host up to two volunteers at a time. The farm is peaceful and best suited for people who enjoy simple living, physical work, and being surrounded by nature. Internet connection is available but limited, so it’s not ideal for remote work that requires heavy online use like downloading video. There is enough signal for anything else.
