  Description

  We are a family of four – Birte (41), Johannes (40), Otto (8) and Carla (2) – living in an old brick farmhouse in a tiny village in Northern Germany, together with our golden retriever Malou and about nine chickens. Johannes runs his own cabinetry studio, and I am a teacher.
  
  Life here is quiet, green and close to nature. We love being outdoors, cooking and baking together, and sitting around a big table in the evening. In summer we grow our own vegetables, and in autumn there are apples, pears and berries to pick.
  
  A large old property always needs a helping hand, and we would love to share both the work and the good moments with you. Lüneburg with its beautiful old town is close by, and Hamburg is an easy day trip by train.
  
  If you would like to experience everyday family life in the German countryside, we look forward to hearing from you!
  
  
  Nous sommes une famille de quatre personnes – Birte (41 ans), Johannes (40 ans), Otto (8 ans) et Carla (2 ans) – et nous vivons dans une ancienne ferme en briques, dans un tout petit village du nord de l'Allemagne, avec notre golden retriever Malou et environ neuf poules. Johannes dirige son propre atelier d'ébénisterie, et je suis enseignante.
  
  Ici, la vie est calme, verte et proche de la nature. Nous aimons être dehors, cuisiner et faire de la pâtisserie ensemble, et nous retrouver le soir autour d'une grande table. En été, nous cultivons nos propres légumes, et en automne, il y a des pommes, des poires et des baies à cueillir.
  
  Une grande propriété ancienne a toujours besoin d'un coup de main, et nous aimerions partager avec toi le travail comme les bons moments. Lüneburg et sa magnifique vieille ville sont tout près, et Hambourg se visite facilement en train pour la journée.

  You will be part of our everyday life on a Resthof, a former farmstead: shared meals, German family routines, and seasonal traditions.
  
  We speak German with you as much as you like, so this is a great place to learn or improve your German. In return, we are curious about your country, your language and your food.
  
  In your free time you can walk or cycle along the Ilmenau river, explore the Lüneburg Heath, visit the medieval town of Lüneburg or take the train to Hamburg. We are 6 km from Bienenbüttel station and happy to pick you up there. Bikes are available.
  
  
  Tu partageras notre quotidien dans un « Resthof », une ancienne ferme : repas en commun, vie de famille à l'allemande et traditions au fil des saisons.
  
  Nous parlons allemand avec toi autant que tu le souhaites : c'est l'endroit idéal pour apprendre ou améliorer ton allemand. En échange, nous sommes curieux de découvrir ton pays, ta langue et ta cuisine.
  
  Pendant ton temps libre, tu peux te promener ou faire du vélo le long de l'Ilmenau, explorer la lande de Lunebourg, visiter la ville médiévale de Lüneburg ou prendre le train pour Hambourg. Nous sommes à 6 km de la gare de Bienenbüttel et venons volontiers te chercher. Des vélos sont à ta disposition.

  Aide

  We ask for about 4 hours a day, 4 days a week; the rest of the time is yours. We would like you to stay for at least one weeks.
  
  Typical tasks, depending on the season: raking leaves, mowing the lawn, gardening and looking after the vegetable beds, cleaning the chicken coop, stacking firewood, and small jobs around the house.
  
  If you enjoy being with children, Otto and Carla are always happy to have someone to play with. This means playing together while we are around, not looking after them on your own.
  
  We usually work together and are happy to find tasks that suit you.
  
  Nous te demandons environ 4 heures par jour, 4 jours par semaine ; le reste du temps t'appartient. Nous aimerions que tu restes au moins une semaines.

  German is our mother tongue and we are happy to help you learn it in everyday life: while cooking, in the garden or over dinner. We also enjoy speaking English and French and would love to improve both languages by practising with you. L'allemand est notre langue maternelle et nous t'aidons volontiers à l'apprendre au quotidien : en cuisinant, au jardin ou pendant le dîner. Nous aimons aussi parler anglais et français et aimerions améliorer ces deux langues en les pratiquant avec toi.

  Hébergement

  You will have your own room and bathroom in our house. You are warmly invited to join us for meals, and there is a separate kitchen if you prefer to cook for yourself. WiFi is available, and you will get your own key so you can come and go as you please.
  
  Tu disposeras de ta propre chambre et de ta propre salle de bain dans notre maison. Tu es chaleureusement invité(e) à partager nos repas, et une cuisine séparée est à ta disposition si tu préfères cuisiner toi-même. Le WiFi est disponible, et tu recevras ta propre clé pour aller et venir librement.
