Description
I live in a old stone house with a cat and some century trees in the garden (Oaks, olives, walnut, figs, nespereiras etc).
Around the stone well there is the vegetable garden.
This place was built in 1890, i all ready reconstructs some roofs, some stone walls but there is still a lot of work to put into...
I need someone to help me to: Take care of vegetable garden, cutting wild vegetation around the vale, cleaning and maintaining the house, constructing stone walls, collecting aromatic and medical plants, collecting wood for the stove.
5 hours help/day -

Well, in my place we want to do every thing like traditional way, without chemicals in a biologic technique of traditional Portuguese farm.
There they can understand what kind of trees, plants we can have there with success. -

Hugo is a really nice and interesting guy. His farm is located in a peaceful area with nice nature around:) Hugo also took us to Tomar, and we got to see the his work place at Tomar castle which is absolutely amazing!

It took me a couple of days to get used to the tempo, the lack of facilities and the permeated rustic, that characterizes this place. But with time, I really got to appreciate the laid back-ness and the old fashion way of living, and it actually helped me into a more peaceful state of mind.

This was my first workaway experience and I liked this time so much. I stayed there 3 weeks and it was so hard for me to say goodbye at the end. The work was easy (f i maintaining the house, gardening, cooking) and I had a lot of time to explore the nature there and further. Was a plesure meet Annika and recive his help in many works, gardening, some contrutions (Put one door in the place), mantain the home etc.

This house felt magical to me. I have never seen / felt something like this house - all made of nature - before. It looks a little bit like in a fairy tale. not much comfort how most people know it but a different comfort. It was very enriching to be fortunate to be helped by Sonja.
She was always very polite and helpful.
The works were diverse, we made plantations, we painted with linseed oil the woods.
It's amazing how she manages to make a meal, it's to the sky.

Thank you for receiving us, it was a unique experience in rural Portugal. Very peaceful and quiet place, a huge garden with a lot to do, lovely animals. Hugo was a kind and easygoing, it was an interesting first Workaway experience.

Cheers Hugo! Was great to experience a bit of traditional Portuguese way of life. The place is so peaceful and theres plenty fresh food from the garden. Also you, the six kittens, cats and dog make good company :)

I really enjoyed my time in Hugo's place, he is nice and easygoing man wit a lovely old rustic house and very nice sloped garden with many different fruit and nut trees and his beautiful animals, I just loved!!
