Hi everyone,
in 2017 an ecological and community life project was born in Contrada Portelle, a small corner of paradise in the Sicilian countryside located 10 km from the sea and 3 km from Noto, a town of 24,000 inhabitants in the extreme south of Sicily, elected a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for the Sicilian Baroque.
Our intention is to create an ecological and supportive lifestyle.
This is therefore not a farm, a farmhouse or a b&b but a country house where volunteers help only to improve the house, the land, the quality of life and relationships. Therefore the requested aid is not related to a company.
The property extends over 21,000 square meters and includes a 400 square meter building divided into 2 apartments of 100 square meters each, a ruin to be rebuilt, 2 department stores to be restored and 2 natural caves.
Currently we intend to restore the house and take care of the land in order to make gardens, vegetable gardens and crops following the permaculture method.
We also have a second house by the sea, in Calabernardo, 12 km from the country house, where we can rest and refresh.
The project will therefore develop into two habitable houses with a workshop with equipment for mechanics, carpentry and art. There is also a large room with musical instruments designed for parties, meetings and events. In the future, other houses for cohousing and / or ecovillage can be built in the land.

dal 2017 è nato un progetto di vita ecologica e comunitaria a Contrada Portelle, piccolo angolo di paradiso nella campagna siciliana situato a 10 km dal mare e a 3 km da Noto, cittadina di 24.000 abitanti all'estremo sud della Sicilia, eletta Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'UNESCO per il barocco siciliano.
La nostra intenzione è quella di realizzare uno stile di vita ecologico e solidale.
Questa non è pertanto un'impresa agricola , un agriturismo o un b&b ma un casale di campagna dove i volontari aiutano solo per migliorare la casa, il terreno, la qualità della vita e delle relazioni. Pertanto l'aiuto richiesto non è correlato ad un'azienda.
La proprietà si estende su 21.000 metri quadrati e comprende un fabbricato di 400 metri quadrati suddiviso in 2 appartamenti di 100 metri quadrati ognuno, un rudere da ricostruire, 2 grandi magazzini da restaurare e 2 grotte naturali.
Attualmente abbiamo intenzione di restaurare la casa e curare il terreno in modo da farne giardini, orti e coltivazioni seguendo il metodo della permacultura.
Abbiamo inoltre una seconda casa al mare, a Calabernardo, a 12 km dalla casa di campagna, dove ci si può riposare e rinfrescare.
Il progetto si svilupperà pertanto in due case abitabili con un laboratorio con attrezzature per meccanica, falegnameria e arte. Inoltre c'è una grande sala con strumenti musicali ideata per feste, incontri ed eventi. In futuro si potranno costruire nel terreno altre casette per cohousing e\o ecovillaggio.

The workawayers will have the opportunity to learn the principles of country life, restoration and construction of furniture, mediterranean cuisine, and permaculture.
They will also discover the countless historical and natural beauties that offer the surrounding areas, as well as experience the Sicilian traditions and culture.
I workawayers avranno modo di imparare i principi della vita di campagna, del restauro e costruzione di mobili, della cucina mediterranea, della permacultura.
Essi potranno inoltre scoprire le innumerevoli bellezze storiche e naturali che offrono le zone circostanti, nonchè vivere le tradizioni e la cultura siciliana.

The tasks requested with the highest priority are the restoration of the house and the rehabilitation of the vegetable garden, followed by the normal kitchen and cleaning chores. In addition, the craft workshop, with various tools, allows guests to free their creativity.
I lavori richiesti con maggiore priorità sono il restauro della casa e il risanamento dell'orto/giardino.Poi ci sono i normali lavori di cucina e pulizia. Inoltre il laboratorio artigianale, con diversi attrezzi, permette di liberare la creatività degli ospiti.
