  Hello!
  
  I am a 34 year old sailor, boatbuilder, carpenter etc. I live in central Bergen, Norway and am undertaking a project on a very traditional wooden sailing vessel. The boat looks strikingly like a Viking ship, but is actually a replica of an 18th century coastal Norwegian fishing and trading vessel. The boat is located in central Bergen, in a museum harbor. The harbor/boat yard provides access to an extensive workshop with an array of woodworking tools. It's all set in an historic neighborhood and the property is comprised of iconic and traditional Bergen buildings.
  
  Participants will be engaged in various parts of an ongoing restoration of the boat. It is a great opportunity to learn carpentry, sailing, rigging, painting, mechanical and many other skills. Be prepared to get your hands dirty. I can provide accommodation for up to 2 participants in a spare bedroom in a centrally located apartment. The apartment is walking distance to the boat and everything Bergen has to offer. Anyone interested in traditional boats and has some desire to gain some experience in the traditional boat trade is encouraged to apply. I am happy to mentor anyone with a will to learn.

  I'm originally from the West Indies and USA but have been living in Norway for 7 years. I have been a sailor my entire life and have worked as a captain for many years. I have a very relaxed and down to earth personality.

  Travelers will learn about traditional boatbuilding, general boat maintenance, Norwegian coast culture and history. The project is situated in a living museum. Accommodation is in the historic center of Bergen and near the UNESCO waterfront.

  Explore all that Norway has to offer. Excellent hiking right out of town, sailing and boating excursions on the fjord. When the vessel is on the water, travelers will be able to sail and explore fjords.
