The nunnery is a branch of an institute that functions as an educational center as well as a center to preserve and promote Buddhism under the traditional Drikung Kagyu Lineage.
At present the Nunnery is divide into preparatory classes, Retreat College and Monastery sections. Some of the other nuns as well as some of the new ones who do not wish to join the college get the chance to receive appropriate education in the monastery section.
The Institute encourages the nuns to be confident, responsible and to gain knowledge and wisdom to become leaders of their own nunnery. Workshops on discussions, public speaking, leadership and a good command of English are being introduced to allow the nuns to step out into the world. The Institute hopes that in time, the nuns will be independent enough to help their community by becoming good administrators, teachers, translators, traditional physicians, health workers and by establishing schools, health centers and homes for the old and needy.
