  Description

  We are the "hosts": Catharina and Carlo. A "young" couple of over-seventies with the main aim of continuing together, without haste, in a sincere, active, simple and as serene a way as possible their already long experience of life in this world. Life experience which, as happens to many, has also seen difficult moments in the past: we are also processing these, with heart and mind, to obtain a substantially positive final balance and thus experience the sober balance that should be the first characteristic of the autumn of life. It is in this sense that we would also like to use the possibilities offered by the experience, new for us, of Workaway.
  
  Catharina had experienced Workaway herself as a cook in an agriturismo in Puglia.
  
  The house is located in the countryside and therefore there is a large garden around it with also a small wood, with several possibilities for sitting outside.
  Overall, a simple, natural and relaxing environment.
  
  The land around the house extends over 3,000 square meters and is completely fenced with a net, so any children can play in complete safety. We also have two dogs who are really very docile and friendly with people, so they don't pose any problems. There is also a parking space 20 meters from the front door, inside the property.
  3 km away is Cutrofiano, a small town (9,000 inhabitants) where you can find all the shops and essential services, such as a bank, pharmacy, emergency medical service, etc.

  I can talk to you if you are interested about the cultural and historical Puglia. Also we can visit the beautifull cities and the seas around.
  The house is located in the centre of Salento, in the countryside, in a quiet but not too isolated area, near Cutrofiano, a small town with a ceramic tradition and close to many other small towns rich in history dating back several millennia. Halfway between the two seas, the Ionian and the Adriatic, Cutrofiano is 25 – 30 km away from Gallipoli and Otranto and many other beautiful and well-known seaside places. Half an hour's drive away is Lecce, "the Florence of the South" with its unique Baroque and Roman remains.
   
  Salento is a narrow peninsula in the easternmost part of southern Italy,close to Greece in not only Geographical, but also historical, cultural and ethnic proximity.
   
  Salento has always been the bridge between Europe and the East and so we can find expressions of art, culture and popular traditions tretching across the millennia and intertwined between East and West: prehistoric graffiti in caves, megaliths, Greek and Roman findings and then Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic and finally a lot of Baroque, facilitated by a local stone that is particularly compliant to the sculptor and has a light and sunny colour. The result is a fascinating land and a friendly, welcoming environment rich in traditions that are still alive.

  We are doing some gardening and little projects around the house together.
  When you want to come with your a travel buddy, also welcome. The partner is maybe interested in some cooking.

  Hébergement

  The appartement for staying consists a living room-kitchen with a sofa bed for 2 people, a bedroom with 2 beds (which can be joined or separated) and a bathroom. It is fully furnished and has heating in winter and air conditioning in summer.
  It is adjacent to our house, where we live, but it is completely independent:
  
  
  The food will be mostly italian food. But if you can make dishes from your own country we will be very pleased

  We live in the countryside. Most comfortable is a car, but you can also use one of the two bikes. Public travel is not very good.
