A Workaway with Balance - Furry Friends Need You in Fuengirola
Looking for a peaceful stay by the sea? I’m offering accommodation only in exchange for some light help with my home and, importantly, my furry family, especially as we navigate a tender period.
We recently said a heart-breaking goodbye to my sweet dog, Jade after 14 wonderful years. Her absence has been deeply felt by all of us, especially Kiana, my other senior dog, who is still mourning her sister and feeling quite lost and lonely during this difficult transition. She, along with my 2 house cats, would greatly benefit from gentle company and affection while I’m at work.
If you are a true animal lover and have a compassionate heart for animals, particularly those needing a little extra comfort, enjoys cooking plant-based meals, and values a tidy and tranquil home environment, this could be a truly meaningful and mutually rewarding stay. Your calm presence could make a real difference for Kiana and our little family.
What You'll Be Doing:
✔ Spending quality time with my animals
✔ Ensuring they're getting their walks, have food and water
✔ Cooking 1 plant-based meal per day
✔ Helping keep the apartment clean and tidy
✔ Around 3 hours of help per day, Monday to Friday

Staying here offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle while experiencing life in Fuengirola, a vibrant coastal town on Spain's Costa del Sol. You’ll have the chance to explore Spanish culture, from its delicious cuisine and lively markets to its stunning beaches and charming local neighborhoods.
If you're interested in plant-based cooking, I’m happy to share tips, recipes, and ideas to expand your culinary skills. You’ll also gain hands-on experience caring for animals, learning how to connect with and care for senior pets with unique needs.
In addition to the daily tasks with the pets, you’ll have free time to wander through Fuengirola’s vibrant streets, visit nearby towns, or simply soak up the sun. This is a chance to experience a peaceful, authentic part of Spain while also having the space to work or relax on your own terms.

What I’m Looking For
I’m looking for someone who genuinely loves animals, and enjoys cooking plant-based meals.
If you’re comfortable around pets and happy to prepare a daily plant-based meal (I have plenty of recipes if you need ideas), this could be a great fit!
The help needed is light, mainly spending time with my senior dog Kiana providing comforting company and 2 house cats, keeping the apartment tidy, and cooking. Kindness, patience and understanding around animals are important.
What You'll Be Doing:
✔ Keeping my pets company – 1 senior dog and 2 house cats who love attention.
✔ Preparing 1 plant-based meal per day – I can share plenty of recipe ideas.
✔ Keeping the apartment tidy – just light upkeep, no deep cleaning
✔ Walking Kiana – some countryside walks, so bring sturdy shoes!
✔ About 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday
Who Would Be a Good Fit?
✔ A non-smoker (important)
✔ Someone who enjoys the warmth and affection of both dogs and cats, especially when they like to join you on the bed
✔ Someone with basic cooking skills who can follow plant-based recipes
✔ A person who speaks decent English, Spanish, or Dutch
