  Description

  Hi, we’re an Indigenously owned business located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, at the base of Mount Cheam in Agassiz. Our property is a mix of hospitality, events, accommodation, food and beverage, and land-based projects, so no two days here look exactly the same.
  
  We operate as a working lodge and venue rather than a traditional hotel / resort. That means more connection with guests and a strong sense of purpose and pride in what we do. Our days revolve around hosting travelers, running weddings and events, maintaining accommodations, and continuously improving the property and systems behind the scenes.
  
  Alongside day-to-day lodge operations, we’re involved in ongoing business and development projects such as refining guest experiences, improving sustainability practices, expanding our events program, upgrading the property, and strengthening internal systems. Staff who join us often get exposure to how a hospitality business actually functions, not just surface-level tasks.
  
  The people here matter. Our team is a mix of long-term staff, seasonal employees, and travelers, all working closely together in a small, collaborative environment. You’ll be working alongside people who care about doing things properly, who support each other, and who take pride in creating a positive experience for guests and coworkers alike.
  
  We value people who are curious, flexible, and willing to jump in where needed. Some days are hands-on and physical, others are guest-facing or detail-focused. You don’t need to know everything coming in, but you do need to care about doing things well and being part of a team that relies on each other. Many of our staff leave with practical skills, strong references, and a much clearer understanding of how a complex hospitality business runs.
  
  The location is a big part of what makes this experience special. We’re surrounded by mountains, river, farmland, and quiet backroads, with easy access to hiking, fishing, and outdoor activities. Life here is slower paced than the city, but still engaging, especially when events are in full swing. If you enjoy nature, community, and being part of a place where your work has a visible impact, you’ll likely enjoy your time here.
  
  In return, we offer a supportive work environment, meaningful experience in hospitality and operations, starting pay of $18 per hour, free onsite accommodations with private rooms, and one daily staff meal provided. This allows you to live and work in a beautiful rural setting while keeping your living expenses low and gaining hands-on experience.

  Because we are a small, on-site team, staff are part of daily life rather than separate from it. You’ll work alongside our regular lodge operations and events, and there’s plenty of opportunity to connect outside of work as well.
  
  Socially, this often looks like eating staff meals together, helping prepare for or wrap up events, chatting after shifts, and spending downtime exploring the area with other staff. During busier seasons, weddings and events create a strong sense of teamwork and shared accomplishment, which is often where the best connections form. Staff also have the chance to interact with guests from all over the world and with members of the local community who work with us regularly.
  
  We host travelers because we value fresh perspectives. People from different backgrounds bring new ways of thinking, working, and problem solving, and that helps us grow both personally and professionally. We enjoy learning about different cultures, languages, traditions, and approaches to work and community.

  Aide

  We’re primarily looking for help with entry-level, hands-on work that supports the day to day running of the lodge. Tasks can vary depending on the season and what’s happening on site, but generally include a mix of hospitality support, housekeeping assistance, event setup and teardown, light maintenance, cleaning, and general property upkeep.
  
  No specialized experience is required. What matters most to us is a strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to communicate clearly. Because we work with guests and operate as a small, close-knit team, being able to ask questions, follow instructions, and communicate openly is essential.
  
  You should be comfortable taking direction, working both independently and as part of a team, and helping out where needed. The work is practical and sometimes physical, but straightforward, and you’ll always be shown how things are done.
  
  This is a good fit for people who are happy to start at an entry level, learn as they go, and contribute positively to a shared living and working environment.

  Living arrangements vary depending on whether you are joining us as an individual or as a couple, but private rooms are always a must. We do not offer shared bedrooms. All accommodations are on site and designed to provide a clean, secure, and comfortable place to sleep and recharge.
  
  Rooms are fully furnished, and accommodations are shared only in common areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, or living spaces, depending on the unit. One staff meal is provided each workday, prepared by our kitchen team. Please note that dietary restrictions or preferences cannot be accommodated for staff meals.
  
  All accommodations are equipped with shared kitchens or kitchenettes, including basic cookware, appliances, and food storage, so you are welcome to prepare your own meals outside of the provided staff meal. Grocery access is available in the nearby town.

  Kuzco and Kronk

  Kuzco and Kronk are two of the more entertaining residents at Fraser River Lodge. Our llamas are equal parts curious, expressive, and mildly dramatic.
  
  They live together on the property with space to roam and keep watch over their surroundings. Llamas are naturally alert animals, and Kronk especially likes to observe everything happening on site. Kuzco tends to be the more relaxed of the two, often found calmly grazing or standing nearby as if supervising operations.
  
  They add personality and a bit of awkward humor to daily life here. Watching guests try to figure out whether they’re being judged or welcomed by a llama is always entertaining.

  

  Lola the goose and her chickens

  Alongside our larger livestock, we keep a small flock of hens here at Fraser River Lodge who provide fresh eggs when in season.
  
  The flock lives in a secure coop with outdoor space to roam, and forage. They’re relatively low-maintenance but full of personality.
  
  Leading the group is our goose Lola, affectionately known as our “gooster.” She acts as the rooster of the flock, keeping watch and maintaining order, but at heart she’s very much the mother goose. Protective, vocal, and always aware of what’s happening in the coop, she takes her role seriously and makes sure everyone stays in line.
  
  While staff aren’t expected to have prior poultry experience, there may be simple tasks like collecting eggs, checking feed and water, or helping maintain the coop area depending on the season.

  

  Kitcha

  No description of life at Fraser River Lodge would be complete without mentioning Kitcha, our quiet and very independent on-site cat.
  
  She’s primarily an outdoor cat and plays an important role in helping keep the property pest-free. While she takes her job seriously, she also takes her relaxation seriously. You’ll usually find her sunbathing on warm decks or pavement, tucked into tall grass, or watching the world go by from a safe distance.
  
  Kitcha operates on her own terms but is incredibly kind and curious. She enjoys observing guests and has perfected the art of casually teasing anyone who tries a little too hard to pet her. If she chooses you, consider it an honor.

  

  Bison Herd

  One of the most unique parts of life at Fraser River Lodge is our resident herd of Bison. We currently care for eight females and one male, and they are an important part of the landscape and identity of the property.
  
  The herd lives in a dedicated pasture on site, where they graze and move naturally as a group. Watching them from a safe distance is something many guests and staff find grounding and memorable. They are powerful, intelligent animals, and their presence adds to the sense of place here in the Fraser Valley.
