Description
Hello, my name is Sam Nang and I am the founder of a Community Development Project in Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri province, in eastern Cambodia. My project focuses on promoting sustainable eco-tourism in the area through working with the local minority, Bunong people, and helping them preserve their traditions. The Bunong domesticated the Asian elephant over 100 years ago and revere and care for them. However, both the locals and the animals are under threat from globalisation and rapid urban development. Through my project I am trying to help the Bunong preserve their way of life and help them protect their forests and elephants from extinction.
My family and I also run a guesthouse and cafe in Sen Monorom, where we do most of our tour bookings.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Volunteers will experience the local culture, both Khmer and Bunong. This would be an experience in a remote part of Cambodia that hasn't been overtaken by tourists yet and therefore would give you a truly Cambodian feeling. There are also opportunities for jungle treks, elephant tours, monkey tours, staying in a homestay with a Bunong family and many more!

I would like to invite people who could help me with some office tasks, such as writing and replying to emails with tour and booking enquiries. I would also like the volunteers to help out in the guesthouse, especially with the reception. Both of these would require someone with a good command of English. It would be also great if you could help my staff practice their conversational English by staying with us.
Our projects also need help building furniture and houses, and there's often farming and agricultural work. If you have any special skills (carpentry, construction, farming, etc.) please let us know! At times I also need help with running the elephant tours and some outdoor help for the projects, which would be a great chance for you to explore the area and spend some time with the elephants!Langues parlées

Accommodation in the guesthouse will be provided, as well as a home-cooked dinner. We are constructing a new guesthouse in a local village that may also be available.
Sometimes my family will invite you for another meal, depending on how busy we all are. There are many cheap local restaurants, cafes and bakeries nearby.Autres infos...
Sen Monorom is a small town with nice surroundings that are good for exploring by a motorbike. We could help you with motorbike or bicycle rental and provide with ideas on what to do on your days off. Generally you will be able to find peace and quiet in the area.
Nearby are border crossings into Vietnam and Laos as well as Kratie (around 4 hrs away), which is famous for having the last of the almost-extinct Irrawaddy dolphins (there are less than 100 left).Informations complémentaires
