Wade and Jenna are exceptionally wonderful to host. They have a strong work ethic, are skilled and very able to learn different tasks. They work really well together and fit into our life and rhythms with ease. We were very happy with the quality of the carpentry work they did building our micro shack from Michael's drawings.

Michael and Tricia are exceptional hosts. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a kindness, generosity and attentiveness that lasted the whole stay. As a result, we quickly felt at home, and comfortable to be ourselves.

… read more fulfilling- building a tiny house! Michael is an amazing project manager - he went above and beyond to ensure that we had all the supplies needed to progress each day.
We loved getting to know their budding community, there is much beauty and wisdom in each of the inhabitants. We only wish there was more time. The accommodations were very comfortable, private (own ensuite with separate entrance) and we loved sharing nightly meals in the main house, made mainly by Tricia. She cooked with creative sensitivity to dietary restrictions that we came with! Conversations were always lovely and enjoyed.
2 weeks turned into close to 2 months and we left with full hearts, fresh inspiration and dreams of returning to connect with them again. Words fall short to describe the special, sacred and connective experience that is Michael and Tricia! We cherish all of our moments spent together.

We had the most spectacular time working with Michael and Tricia, and living with Art and Addie! What a lovely community. We had the pleasure of taking care of the sweet poodles Bear and Rosie and Max the cat. We had a lot of fun painting the fences and cooking for the community. The room we stayed in was super cozy. Duncan is a sweet little town
… read more too, and we enjoyed being able to take the bikes along the path into town. We also enjoyed the fact it takes a while to get to town as the remote landscape was quite peaceful. Our first experience as workawayers and not the last ! Tricia and Michael welcomed us in their beautiful and peaceful place near Duncan for two weeks. We had our own bedroom and we always shared delicious breakfast and dinner (made by cook Tricia) ! Tricia and Michael are sharing, open minded and funny people. We had a lot of good moment around

The two puppies are so adorable and it was a pleasure to built them a tiny house for the winter. Michael brought his ideas and dimensions and we had all the tools we needed to do the work. It was very interesting to work by our own and Tricia and Michael had relied upon us which was very appreciable.

It was wonderful to have Simon and Marie stay and work with us. They worked well on their own, with simple instructions, doing some fencing and building a little shelter for our two new Standard Poodles. They were also very helpful in the house, around meals, and always kept things tidy and organized. Simon and Marie are both easy

Randy and Gail are amazing Workawayers. Their enthusiasm and willingness for any project and their detailed attention to the quality of their work is marvellous.
Ever positive and loving, they became part of our "family" in no time. By the time they left they had become fast friends. We enjoyed all the ways they pitched in, including making some
… read more lovely meals and always cleaning up after. In all ways, they were very easy to have around.
They worked on building an outdoor kitchen shelter from scratch, a deck extension and also have done some inside molding and trim work. All were done efficiently and immaculately, and required almost no supervision after discussing design and needs.
Their diverse knowledge of many topics, and their unending curiosity, led to some very rich conversations. If anything, their unending desire to give may have you feeling like you are receiving too much, while they are not taking enough time for themselves. If you ask them, however, they will say they are just fine. :))
We highly recommend them as potential Workawayers for anyone reading this.

We spent two wonderful weeks at Michael and Tricia's rural acreage home in the Cowichan Valley, and loved every minute of it.
Both Tricia and Michael are excellent communicators, and Michael was very quick at replying to all of our emails.
We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived; our accommodation was a guest suite (bedroom and
… read more bathroom) adjacent to the main house where we ate meals.
Meals were often a shared endeavour, but always full of interesting conversation and laughter. During our stay, we met several of their friends and were invited to accompany them to some activities in nearby Duncan.
After discussing our interests and skills, we were given the project of designing and building an outdoor kitchen/pergola. Michael and Tricia gave us their ideas on overall dimensions and use, and asked us to incorporate an existing cement pad and three large panes of tempered glass salvaged from an old greenhouse. We truly appreciated being left almost on our own for this creation; Tricia and Michael were always there with a suggestion if asked, and Michael helped us out on more than one occasion with technical challenges. We feel ourselves fortunate to have built not only a structure of which we are proud, but also a friendship going far beyond just a workaway relationship.

Both Marlene and Hannes were exceptional workers. Not only were they hard workers, they were skilled, quick to learn, they consistently showed up with a great attitude!!
Additionally, they were respectful and responsible guests in our home, cleaning up after themselves and participating around our home and keeping things tidy.
