  Description

  Hi, how nice that you have landed on our profile. We are Edward (59 years young) and Marianne (56 years young), Dutch and German and living in Hoinkhausen since July 2021, where we bought an old farmhouse. We instantly fell in love with the building and its historical details, which have many stories to tell. Hoinkhausen is located in the beautiful region of Sauerland, in the near from old cities (Paderborn, Lippstadt, Soest) an nearby the Möhnesee.
  
  Since July 2021 we have been working on the mega job and we would like to invite you to help us and have adventures with us. We like the Workaway platform to get to know other people and cultures.
  
  We are already very far along with the renovation. The house is nearly finished and now we are in the process of creating rooms in the former barn and the old workspace. And we could use some help with that. Do you like carpentry and painting, or would you like to learn? Then get in touch with us.
  
  We are open, honest, enthusiastic, welcoming and love challenges.
  We enjoy connecting people and contributing to their travel stories.
  
  Our English is good, our German and Netherlands are very good (and getting better every day) and Edward also speaks a little French. Of course you become a part of our life and we like to take the Workawayers in the German Culture (if you want to, of course).
  The village of Hoinkhausen is small (about 200 inhabitants), but has a beautiful nature and is also related to a bus station 50 m from our house.
  
  From our place you can easyly discover Germany on weekends when you have off, or you do nice daytrips after your tasks (: we tell you our hidden Champions in Germany and in the Netherlands! :)
  
  Tourist places such as Soest, Lippstadt and Paderborn, the Sauerland (Central Mountains with Wintersports in Winterberg) are close by, as well as trendy city's such as Bielefeld or Dortmund (50 minutes by car), Cologne (1, 50 hours by car) and Hamburg or Groningen in the Netherlands 3,5 hours by car). Hoinkhausen is located in a quiet area, with beautiful nature. You can enjoy biking (we have E-bikes), horse riding and hiking in the area and swimming in our Pool.

  You will learn with us about:
  1. Interesting things about Germanys historical facts, how the social system is working. You could learn German as we would interact for a long time, but you could as well pick up a few words in Nederlands (Edward is from the Netherlands).

  Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

  The Workaways are becoming a part of our lives. We really enjoy involving the Workayers in our daily activities and social life. At the farmhouse you will get to know the various German and Dutch cultures and perhaps other people (our friends and family). If you like, you can work sometimes in a restaurant inside an old monastery by Marianne’s sister and visit the museum there. (Westfalian Monastery Museum in Dalheim).
  You can join us to explore Hoinkhausen and its surroundings, but of course you can also go out on your own a visit in the off time interesting cities and landscapes in Germany and the Netherlands.

  Option N°1 maintenance of our house:
  a) painting wooden parts of our house.
  c) paint details in our apartment
  e) bring order in our tools in the shad
  f) help to prepare a new room in the old shad, when this room is prepared we are planning to have more workawayers in the same time. (OSB Boards, Insulation, Flooring)
  
  Option N°2 Gardening: We have a big private garden, you could help us there.
  
  We are asking for help 3 hours/day, or 2 days/week.

  Hébergement

  You live in an own apartment with a small kitchen, a sleeproom and own bathroom. There is a private entrance and access from the apartment to the garden. You have WLAN. Everything is really nice.
  
  We'll make sure you don't go hungry and buy regional food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks. Of course, we take your preferences and make a shopping list for the supermarket together.
  
  Sometimes we can have together a Barbecue in the garden. :-)

  Autres infos...

  You can use the house and garden alone on a daily basis. Marianne (is a historian) works in marketing and Edward travels in the Netherlands two days a week as a lawyer. If you want, you can also take a little trip and visit our next apartment near Leer/Papenburg\Groningen (NL).
