  Hello! we are just starting a new eco project in the Old Cilento. together with my family (a 4 years old daughter) and iwth the members of the non profit organization we created, we live in an old big house in a small village called San Mango Cilento. The house needs a lot of maintenance work and has a lot of space for outdoor and gardening. This summer we are starting to work to create a forest for environmental education, so a lot of enthusiam, a lot of beaurocracy, a lot of planning and a lot of work in the forest!

  We live in a small village at 600 m height, sorrounded by forests and mountains, in the inner part of the "Cilento antico", so you can enjoy the slow life of a small village in southern Italy, where you have the feeling that life stopped a fifthy years ago. People is friendly and very curios to know different way of living. I am an ecologist and hiking guide, and I will be happy to go hiking with you and to share what I know about the landscape in which I live. The other members of the cultural associations are a landscape architect, with a lot of experience in permaculture and autoconstruction and a musician, passionate in southern Italy popular music. During summer we will do some events for children and grown up all dealing with environmental education and we will invite experts in permaculture and selfconstruction to create a food forest, restore the dry walls, make an intensive vegetable garden and you will be involved in all these activities. We are just starting this activity, so we will be of course be happy of any suggestion that you can give

  Aide

  Any kind of help is welcomed, since we will be pretty busy with the burocracy . We need help in general maintenance in the house,with the vegetable garden , in cooking meals, some babysitting sometimes and you will be involved in the creation of the educational forest. We are planning to involve experts in permaculture to create the forest, we will do some self construction, some renovation work to the old dry walls of the land where the forest will grow and a lot of gardening and cleaning in this land

  I am practicing less my english so I will be vaery happy to use it in the everydaylife. My german is not yet perfect, and my grammatic needs to be improved, so someone willing to help improving my skills is very well welcomed. I have lived with several people who wanted to learn italian and it was always a nice experience from both sides and people learned very well italian, so if you come here to improve your italian, it will be our mission!

  Hébergement

  The house in which we live is an old big house built by my grandgrand parents at the end of the 19th century. Today it is not in good conditions, but has a lot of space for at least 10 people (usually we are 4). We have 2-3 private rooms available for hosts. it could happen theyhave to share it for a couple of days if there are too many people, but in general you will have a private room. The bathrooms (3) are in common and at the moment only one has warm water, but we will improve it. There is plenty of space for a camping tent if you prefer to sleep outside, but we only have one tent. We eat omnivorous, but a vegetarian dish is always available. We will eat the vegetable and fruits from the garden when available and usually we cook and eat lunch together, the italian way! dinner could be either together, or we go out at the several "sagre" (food festivals) in the nearby villages. Hosts will be asked to cook meals for all of us only if they like doing it. It is not allowed to smoke into the house that hosts us all, but you can smoke in the garden or on the terrace, if children are not nearby

  San Mango is a half an hour driving distance from Agropoli and is reachable by bus from Agropoli. The connection si not very frequent, so if you wish to visit the area, car would be the best option, but public transportation is possible too and we will try to help when possible. If we do not have too much work, we will go to the seaside a few times per week and of course you will be welcomed. Hiking is something we do often and you can walk some paths starting from the house door. In Agropoli and Omignano Scalo there is a train station and during summer in Agropoli and Acciaroli and San Marco di Castellabate (all ogf them a half an hour drive from San Mango) there are boat connections to the Amalfi coast, to the southern Cilento and to Salerno). The baeautiful Cilento coast with Castellabate, Punta Licosa, Agropoli, Acciaroli, Ascaea, is reachable in a half an hour drive. During summer there are a lot of sagre and festivals in the nearby villages where you can enjoy local life.
  Usually we wake up pretty early in the morning and we have a few relaxed hours before strating working in which we decide what to do during the day and how to do it. We usually start working at about 10- 10.30 (except if there is special work in the garden or in the forest that needs early morning work) and we have a common lunch at 13.30, if possible and after a break we resume working 'til 18.-18.30, but you won't be working all the day. We do not have a fixed schedule, so some days could be busier and others with less things to do. There is plenty of space for evening music or for rest for everybody, but since there is also a kid with us, we do not go to sleep to late and we try to respect some silence.

  We have a limited internet access; so if you need a fast and very effcient web this is not the place for you. and the internet is not available in the whole house. There is a free wifi in the nearby coffee shop
