Description
We are a family of 3. Murray, Vicky and our 14 y/o daughter Grace. We live off-grid on a 2 acre permaculture inspired block within an intentional community called Bindarrabi, right next to Koreelah National Park in Northern NSW. The community land, situated on the slopes of the western end of the spectacular Border Ranges, is truly stunning. We are developing our block along permaculture principles and are seeking helpers who would love to gain hands on experience whilst contributing to a worthwhile vision. Projects would include building, food growing, green tech and handcraft projects.
We’re into health and well-being practices, arts and crafts, music, gardening, community and life-long education.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
As we live on a community, there are weekly gatherings including a morning dance, working bee and community lunch and a movie night which you are welcome to join in but are optional.
This opportunity would suit those interested in off-grid living, self sufficiency, permaculture and intentional community.
Aide
We live off-grid on acreage where we are working towards greater self sufficiency. In view of this, much of the help we would like is towards this goal. There are tasks such as :
* chook care
* garden planting, maintenance and harvesting
* firewood collection
* nursery tasks
* food preserving and herbal home remedies (teas, balms, lotions)
A lot of these tasks are determined by the season.
And then there are the projects that help move us towards greater fulfilment of our vision. These include:
Construction of -
* our tiny home
* top bar beehives
* natural pool conversion of our dam
* Timber milling
* cob pizza oven
* Solar food dryer and oven
* food forest establishment
* building raised beds
* animal shelters
* establishing a kitchen garden
* building a biogas converter
Certain projects take priority over others but there is some wiggle room in terms of which projects we tackle together based on your particular interests and skill set so we’d really like to know what interests you so that you get the most out of your stay.
The help required will be in our private home/garden and not for commercial use.
We’re also looking for help with computers and technical support.
There may also be some opportunities to learn and assist with textile craft projects and clothes making.
You would be welcome to attend the weekly community working bee as part of your daily hours and to share in the community meal that follows.

Hébergement
Our guest/volunteer accommodation is a large, newly renovated caravan discreetly situated, far enough from the main house so as to be private, but close enough to access facilities. The kitchen is in an adjoining shelter, as is the toilet and bathroom. Being off-grid, power is provided by a solar system, as is the hot water and cooking is done on gas, so mindful use is required.
We are an hour away from the nearest shops so food and fuel need to be planned before hand. Our gardens and fresh chook eggs are able to provide some of your food. We provide food similar to what we eat, which is a modest amount of animal products (although we don’t eat dairy), lots of seasonal fruit and veggies and also grains and legumes. Any other special food requirements may need to be provided by yourself.
We do love cooking, learning new recipes and sharing meals. Generally we’ll prepare and share the main meal together (usually lunch) and volunteers take care of their own breakfast and dinner.
Autres infos...
We’re walking distance from a number of swimming holes and are surrounded by natural flora and fauna.
There are many national parks nearby. One is right outside the community front gate. The others would require your own vehicle to access.
The main regional centers of Warwick, Boonah and Kyogle are all approximately an hour away.
Off-grid systems provide for a modest lifestyle and require mindful use.
We have Starlink internet access but no mobile reception unless you have Wi-Fi calling capabilities on your phone that enable regular phone useage.
No smokers thanks
Strictly no dogs or cats are permitted as per community policy
