    Description

Our Backpackers Lodge and Guest House is located on the outskirts of Livingstone Town Centre, 8 kms from the Victoria Falls, in Zambia.

The Lodge has 30 rooms; including deluxe rooms, contemporary garden view twins, standard twin/double rooms and dormitory accommodation and, at out full capacity, employs over 20 local Zambian staff in varying roles which include receptionists, barman, kitchen staff, gardeners, drivers, housekeepers and security and maintenance staff.

The lodge has a relaxed, chilled out atmosphere and attracts a variety of guests of all ages. Set in lush green gardens, shaded by mango trees with a crystal clear swimming pool, and bar and cafe, it is still centrally located, a stone's throw away from a shopping centre and Livingstone's favourite bars, cafes and restaurants, but behind it walls, it remains secluded and away from the hustle bustle of the town.

On your days off, you can relax by our swimming pool, enjoy one of the local markets nearby, go for lunch beside the Zambezi River, go to the Falls, enjoy some of Livingstone's favourite activities, enjoy sundowners at one of the smart hotels on the river, go dancing at the nearby clubs etc.

HERE IS SOMETHING TO CONSIDER BEFORE MAKING CONTACT WITH US...
In order to volunteer in Zambia, you will be required to obtain a FREE business visa (most foreign nationals can obtain this on arrival with a letter of invitation from the organisation where they will be volunteering).
You are not allowed to volunteer whilst on a visitor's (tourist) visa and you cannot change from a visitor's visa to a business visa once in the country.
A business visa is only valid for 30 days, after which you will have to leave Zambia or apply for a temporary employment permit which apparently costs about Kw12 000 (currently approximately $535). If volunteering for us, and you wanted to stay longer than 30 days, the cost for this permit to extend your stay, would be for your own account.

In summary, before arriving in Zambia, you need to consider whether you are coming to Zambia to see the Victoria Falls and volunteer in Livingstone for 30 days and then planning to leave the country, or whether you want to spend longer in Zambia and travel more extensively.
If you are only coming to Livingstone, then volunteering for us on a 30 day business visa, will work for you. If you have intention to spend longer in Zambia, you are better off getting a 30 day visitor's (tourist) visa which can be extended, and then forget about volunteering, but rather pay your way through your stay in Zambia and enjoy our interesting country.
