    Description

My name is Geovanny, and together with my co-founder and partner David, we are dedicated to preserving the unique environment of the Galapagos. I moved to San Cristóbal at age 12, and after living abroad in the United States and the UK, I realized my calling was here. The 2001 oil spill had a profound impact on me, inspiring my commitment to restoring the island’s ecosystem. In 2005, David and I teamed up to make a real difference in the environment and community, with the help of volunteers like you.

On our farm, we focus on restoring and maintaining the ecosystem through various activities. We plant native trees, cultivate a thriving vegetable garden, and monitor local bird populations, all while caring for our animals: cows, goats, chickens, and rescue dogs. Volunteers assist with farm tasks such as milking cows, feeding goats, and tending to the garden. It’s a space where you can contribute to conservation efforts while immersing yourself in the beauty of the Galapagos. Our goal is to continue making a positive impact and set an example for others, near and far.

Getting to know the agricultural aspects of the Galapagos Islands is an experience not many travelers get access to. You will not only learn about living sustainably on a farm, but also get to experience local 'Galapagueño' culture and spend time with our welcoming volunteer coordinator, Pepe.

We are very flexible and open-minded people, but do require our volunteers to be willing to do manual tasks and have a positive attitude. No experience is needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
Farm activities include planting endemic species, controlling invasive species, milking/feeding/herding cows, taking care of goats, helping in the vegetable garden, and other farm-related tasks. Additionally, if you have creative or administrative skills, you can help us with tasks like creating Instagram posts, designing flyers, or other projects to support our outreach and engagement efforts.

    Hébergement

We are excited to welcome up to 5 Workawayers at a time to our hacienda! Volunteer rooms are shared and can accommodate up to 4 people, creating a great opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers. The rooms are separate from the main building, as are the shared bathrooms. Upon your arrival, we’ll provide fresh, clean linens for your stay. Plus, you’ll have access to fast Wi-Fi both in the bedrooms and around the main building.

Our fully equipped communal kitchen is available for volunteers and staff to cook meals. You’re welcome to use fresh fruits, vegetables, and farm products like eggs, milk, and cheese that you help cultivate during your stay. For other essentials like rice or canned goods, a quick trip to town will have you covered. Sometimes, our staff prepare meals, and on special occasions, we love to gather around for pizzas made in our traditional wood-fired oven!

To help with farm tasks, we provide rubber boots and gloves, but we recommend bringing your own insect repellent and sunscreen for the sunny days ahead. Laundry can be done by hand on-site or at a laundromat in town if you prefer.

Please note that to maintain a peaceful and respectful environment, drinking alcohol is not allowed on the hacienda.

Our hacienda is nestled near the charming community of 'La Soledad,' home to around 50 residents and a variety of animals. The island's main port town, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, is just a 20-minute taxi ride away ($7). Here, you'll find beautiful beaches, a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as the airport.
