Hello everybody!
We are Ellen and Nico your hosts, 9 years ago we moved to the Amazon region working with sustainable development projects in the Bolivian and Brazilian Amazon. We currently live and execute our agroforestry project in the city of Cobija, Bolivia.
At home we live with Tapioca and Patua (Dogs), Gaby (spider) and Jambu (cat), as all the wild animals that come from the forest to visit us. All together living together in this space that seeks to be a learning laboratory, practicing more spiritual and sustainable life habits with nature, respecting the environment and learning from it.
What is the project about?
Regenerative agroforestry project, whose main objective is the recovery of degraded soils through the implementation of agroforestry and permaculture systems, seeking the creation of a green area within the Urban cone, contributing to air quality in the city, preservation of biodiversity, agro-ecological food production.
The project is being executed in an area of 5 hectares which are within the urban area, but connected by green corridors to the large areas of jungle. We currently have 2 hectares intervened where we carry out a pilot study of a resilient agroforestry system, 2 hectares of secondary forest in recovery and one hectare where houses and recreation areas are located.
Among the main projects in execution, we have: maintenance and expansion of agroforestry cultivation areas, environmental education and the bio-construction of houses and future areas for the benefit of food and medicinal plants.

Nosotros somos Ellen y Nico sus anfitriones, hace 9 años nos mudamos hacia la región amazónica trabajando con proyectos de desarrollo sustentable en la Amazonia boliviana y brasilera. Actualmente vivimos y ejecutamos nuestro proyecto agroforestal en la ciudad de Cobija, Bolivia.
En casa vivimos con Tapioca y Patua (perros), Gabi (spider) y Jambu (gato) además de todos los animales silvestres que vienen del bosque a visitarnos. Todos juntos conviviendo en este espacio que busca ser un laboratorio de aprendizaje, practicando hábitos de vida más espirituales y sustentables con la naturaleza, respetando el entorno y aprendiendo de él.
¿En qué consiste el proyecto?
Proyecto Agroforestal regenerativo, el cual tiene como principal objetivo la recuperación de suelos degradados por medio de la implementación de sistemas agroforestales y permacultura, buscando la conformación de un área verde dentro del cono Urbano, contribuyendo con la calidad del aire en la ciudad, preservación de biodiversidad, producción de alimentos agroecológicos.
El proyecto esta siendo ejecutado en un área de 5 hectáreas las cuales se encuentran dentro del área urbana, pero conectada por corredores verdes a las grandes áreas de selva en la zona. Actualmente tenemos intervenidas 2 hectáreas donde realizamos un estudio piloto de un sistema agroforestal resiliente, 2 hectáreas de selva secundaria en recuperación y una hectárea donde se encuentran las viviendas y áreas de recreación.
Entre los principales proyectos en ejecución tenemos: mantenimiento y ampliación de áreas de cultivo agroforestal, educación ambiental y la bioconstrucción de viviendas y futuras áreas de beneficiamiento de alimentos y plantas medicinales.

Place for nature lovers, breathe fresh air, sleep with the sound of the jungle, tranquility and simple life. People who respect different ways of thinking, having an exchange of knowledge that can enrich everyone.
The project is located within the urban cone but surrounded and connected by green corridors to large areas of jungle, feeling the smells, noises and colors of the jungle a few minutes from the city, being able to enjoy baths in the small rivers that pass through it. Earth.
Lugar para los amantes de la naturaleza, respirar aire puro, dormir con el sonido de la selva, tranquilidad y vida sencilla. Personas que respeten las diferentes formas de pensar, teniendo un intercambio de conocimientos que pueda enriquecer a todos.
El proyecto se encuentra dentro del cono urbano pero rodeado y conectado por corredores verdes a grandes areas de selva, sintiendo los olores, ruidos y colores de la selva a pocos minutos de la ciudad, pudiendo disfrutar de baños en los pequeños ríos que pasan por el tierra.

The help is mainly related to the management of Agroforestry (pruning, weeding, fertilizing, harvesting, etc.), permaculture work, garden care and bio-construction. The tasks that we have pending in the project are very diverse, which can be carried out by different ages and will be distributed according to the experiences and aptitudes of each person., so all those who are willing to help, learn and teach are welcome.
Here at home we speak Spanish and Portuguese as our mother language and intermediate English that allows us an adequate conversation, so any help with English or another language is welcome!
The collaboration of 20 hours a week is requested, 5 days a week (4h / day).
Un lugar para los amantes de la naturaleza, respirar aire puro, dormir con el sonido de la selva, tranquilidad y vida simple, donde trabajan personas que respetan las diversas formas de pensar, teniendo un intercambio de conocimientos que pueda enriquecer a todos.
El proyecto esta dentro el cono urbano pero rodeado y conectado por corredores verdes a grandes manchas de selva, sintiendo los olores, ruidos y colores de la selva a pocos minutos de la ciudad, pudiendo disfrutar de baños en los pequeños ríos que pasan por el terreno.
Los trabajos están relacionados principalmente al manejo de la Agrofloresta (poda, deshierbar, abonar, cosechar, etc.), cuidado de la huerta y bioconstrucción. Son muy diversas las tareas que tenemos pendientes en el proyecto, las cuales pueden ser realizadas por diferentes edades y serán repartidas en función de las experiencias y aptitudes de cada persona, así que todos los que tengan voluntad de ayudar, aprender y enseñar son bienvenidos.
Se pide la colaboración de 20 horas semanales, repartidas en 5 días por semana (4h/día).

The project is located in the city of Cobija, in the Bolivian Amazon region, in the department of Pando (Bolívia), this city is bordering on two cities in Brazil, as well as in Brasileia and Epitaciolândia in the state of Acre (Brazil). A special place where the borders disappear due to the policies from two countries that allow the free movement of people and cars between these cities, without the need for immigration procedure, carrying out a Binational dynamics that it seems that all three cities are only one.
This peculiarity makes it a special place in the jungle, where these three cities share the culture of two countries that also have a lot of influence from the border such as Peru, which is less than 90 km from the city, becoming an interesting point of commercial and tourist interest for nature and adventure lovers.
The land of the project is located 5 km from the center of the city of Cobija (Bolívia) and 11 km from the center of Epitacolândia (Brazil) and there is mototaxi stop 10 min walking from the place.
Home where we live is a wooden cabin where outside shower and a shared shower and compost toilet, the volunteer will most likely sleep in one room alone, but maybe you are going to sleep in a tent in our house, depending on the conditions and how many volunteers we have. The electricity that we have is from solar panels, so the electric power is limited, so if you're a digital nomad or rely heavily on working online, this place might not be suitable for you.
You must maintain hygiene and order in the home / common areas and be responsible for preparing your meals. We will provide the products harvested in the season (fruits, vegetables, herbs...) and the volunteers have to buy the other ingredients to prepare their meals.
We are in the Amazon, so we live daily with many animais (spiders, toads, ants, snakes, monkeys, wasps ...) mainly insects. Therefore, it is VERY IMPORTANT to take clothes with compressed sleeves, footwear (clothes that can stain), work boots, REPELLENT, hat and sunscreen.
El proyecto se encuentra en la ciudad de Cobija en la región Amazónica Boliviana, del departamento de Pando (Bolivia), esta ciudad hace frontera con dos ciudades del Brasil, las ciudades de Brasileia y Epitaciolandia del estado del Acre (Brasil). Un lugar especial donde las fronteras se desvanecen por políticas que tienen ambos países que dejan la libre circulación de personas y autos entre estas ciudades, sin necesidad de tramites migratorios, llevando una dinámica Binacional que pareciera que las tres ciudades son una sola.
Esta peculiaridad lo torna un lugar especial en medio de la selva, donde estas tres ciudades comparten y mezclan la cultura de ambos países, que además se ven muy influenciadas por la frontera del Perú que se encuentra a menos de 90 km de la ciudad, siendo un punto comercial y de recorrido turístico interesante para los amantes de la naturaleza y de las aventuras.
El terreno del proyecto se encuentra a 5 km del centro de la ciudad de Cobija (Bolivia) y a 11km del centro de Epitacolandia (Brasil) y existe una parada de mototaxi a 10 min caminando desde el proyecto que te lleva a la ciudad.
La casa donde vivimos es una cabaña de madera donde se comparte la ducha y un baño seco para todos, mayormente el voluntario tiene la privacidad de un cuarto para el solo, pero puede ser que sean necesario dormir en un camping adentro de la casa, dependiendo de la disponibilidad de espacio. La energía que disponemos proviene de paneles solares, por lo cual la energía eléctrica es limitada, por eso si necesitas trabajar on line este lugar no es adecuado para ti.
Debes mantener la higiene y el orden en el hogar / áreas comunes y ser responsable por preparar tus comidas. Brindaremos los productos cosechados en la temporada (frutas, verduras, yerbas...) y los voluntarios deben comprar los demás ingredientes para preparar sus comidas.
Hay que tener en cuenta que estamos en la amazonia, por lo cual convivimos a diario con muchos animales (arañas, sapos, hormigas, víboras, monos, avispas…) principalmente mosquitos. Así, es MUY IMPORTANTE traer ropa de MANGA LARGA, pantalones (ropa que se pueda manchar), botas de trabajo, REPELENTE, bloqueador solar.
