  Description

  Hi! 👋 We’re a small but passionate, family-based cultural center in Guatemala City, working at the intersection of community and culture. Together, we run a microbrewery and a cultural center with a hostel.
  
  The cultural center is located in Guatemala City, in the middle of urban life. Opportunities to explore include museums, markets, malls, concerts, theater, and nightlife. Nature tourism opportunities are available through day trips from the city.
  
  We welcome volunteers who are interested in cultural exchange and learning through participation. We are looking for someone who can integrate into the team, help set up events at the cultural center, and welcome guests at the hostel.
  
  We have dedicated staff who manage administrative and day-to-day tasks, so we are not looking for a volunteer to fill those roles, but rather someone who helps bring energy and life to the center. We have specific tasks that we are looking for Workawayers to help with. If you are interested in any of these, please write to us:
  
  Gardening
  Live music performance
  Creating art projects and/or murals to liven up the space
  Helping with the restoration of our historic home
  
  We expect 25 hours of work per week in exchange for your room and meals. One or more of the tasks listed above will be your main responsibility as a volunteer. However, if these tasks do not fill your 25 hours, we expect you to be available to help with other activities as needed. This may include assisting with daily tasks and lending a helping hand where needed.
  
  Our goal is to create a collaborative environment where people from different backgrounds can learn from one another, share skills, and exchange experiences.

  Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

  You will be working with our family so you will have plenty of time to learn more about Guatemalan culture just from all of our friends and family visiting. But aside from that we are happy to teach you Spanish and more about the language. You will also be working at our hostel and will have the chance to exchange with people from many other cultures!

  We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible volunteers who are excited about cultural exchange and contributing to a creative, community-oriented space.
  
  Your main role will be to support activities at our cultural center and hostel. This includes helping set up and organize events, welcoming and interacting with guests, and contributing to the overall atmosphere of the space.
  
  We are especially interested in volunteers who can contribute in one or more of the following areas:
  
  Gardening: Helping maintain and improve our green spaces by watering plants, basic landscaping, planting, and general upkeep.
  
  Live music performance: We love creating a vibrant cultural atmosphere. Musicians are welcome to perform during events or casual evenings, helping bring life to the space and engage our community and guests.
  
  Art projects and murals: We are always looking to make our space more creative and inspiring. Volunteers can design and create murals or small art installations, as well as collaborate on ongoing artistic projects around the center.
  
  Restoration of our historic home: Our building has a lot of character, and we are continuously working to preserve and improve it. This may include light restoration work such as sanding, painting, basic repairs, and other hands-on tasks.
  
  You will typically focus on one or more of these areas as your main responsibility. If these tasks do not fill your weekly hours, you will also help with general, day-to-day activities such as preparing spaces for events or lending a hand where needed.

  If you want to come learn more Spanish we are happy to help with that, we cannot provide you with classes, but you can pick up some from us. And if you speak Dutch or Swedish we are happy to learn some words as two of our close relatives' partners are from Sweden and Belgium.

  Hébergement

  You will be staying at our hostel/cultural center. There is 24 hours security there. We offer you a safe bed in our dorm. It is in the center of Guatemala city so there is plenty to do around the area. As for food, there is a kitchen in the hostel which you can use. We will provide food for you to cook your meals as you want.
