  Description

  Ciao, we are an eco village in Sicily
  We are a group of people that gave birth to a community life project in the country side of Siracusa. This project is based on the recovery of a place that was abandoned since many years to transform it into a healthy eco system for people and biodiversity.
  The place is an open land. Since the project began in 2013, many people have been here, bringing their energy and personality. Now we are a more rooted group that still remains in constant evolution and transformation.
  We are from 5 to 15 people, depending on the period and personal needs.
  We share the valley with others families with whom we collaborate and share important moments, based on strong friendship bonds.
  Our community lifestyle is based on environmental and ethical values, agriculture projects, respect for people and places and, of course, creativity and well being. We share the desire to find alternative ways of inhabiting the earth by getting ourselves involved every day.
  
  The valley is a natural environment, crossed by a clean river, with oak woods, olive trees and a lot of wild plants. We do our best to keep it close to the wild state. Keep this in consideration if you decide to come here: bring good shoes and comfortable country clothes.
  Accomodation;
  We share different spaces. Community life revolves around "casa del pero", the common house. On the ground floor we eat together and make daily activities; on the second floor there are the guest rooms.
  We have a nice compost toilet (Turkish squat toilet and bidet) that we built some years ago. We have a Yurt that we use for different kind of activities (yoga, exercise, music or just chilling next to the stove). We have an external kitchen and a wood oven where we make pizza and bread. We have a small lab that we use for wood working and handcraft and where we keep our tools for gardening and general maintenance. We also have a Ping pong place to relax and have some fun.
  We have a big garden where we grow most of the food we eat, partly cultivated vegetables and partly wild herbs.
  
  For us it is very important to grow with others and we invest energy and time to make it flow, building a shared vision together, trying to live simply to be in harmony with the place that hosts us.
  Our typical day begins after breakfast with some shared work like gardening, building, cutting wood, making food preserves and keeping the place healthy.
  We usually have a meeting every Monday to discuss and organize the week's priorities.
  We always share the two main meals of the day, lunch and dinner. Each of us cooks, offering ourselves voluntarily.
  We buy the dry supply (cereals and legumes) from neighbors and Italian bio producers. We only cook vegetarian meals, with seasonal products.
  
  In our place there's no Boss, we make decisions all together and the work we ask of guests is similar to what we ask of ourself, because you'll be a part of this group. We.re not accepting paying guest we need people to collaborate not to vacation.
  Each season requires different types of jobs... We'll flow with you! (ex: building a cob house and a cob oven, renovating the water canal of the valley...).
  We want you to understand that this place is pretty wild, the phone connection is really low and it's located in a few specific points, we don't use chemicals to clean, we try to do as little rubbish as possible and we ask you the same.
  There's also the possibility to park your camper of van nearby or putting up a tent in the warm time.
  The valley where we live is 5km away from the closest town and there's no public transport. Usually we move by car or on feet if someone wants to have a nice walk it is about a 1h30. In any case there are buses in town making connection from Catania or Siracusa.

  We mainly ask for help in taking care of the vegetable garden, collecting wood, preparing meals and general maintenance. We are also open to listen to your proposal, if you have a particular passion and ability, let us know!

  Communal house with share sleeping room, with other guest or people living in the progect,shower, compost toilet. There's place for parkcamper or tent.

  The parking is around 400 mt from the village.

  We can accept pets; please remember that your pet's behavior is your responsibility and it is important that gardens, common spaces, people and other animals are respected. Animals are not allowed in the house.
