 Hi, I’m Naomi
My husband and I met travelling through Eastern Europe 13 years ago. Since then we’ve married, settled in Sydney, and now we love to host — something we’ve been doing consistently for nearly 10 years. In that time, we’ve welcomed so many incredible people into our home and lives.
 ⸻
 About Our Home
We’re based in Matraville, a leafy, peaceful suburb that’s still only a short walk to the beach and ocean pool, with cafes and restaurants nearby. The city is about a 30-minute drive away, so it’s the best of both worlds.
Our house is big, busy, and full of life — two young kids, lots of noise, lots of love. We’ve got four bedrooms, a home office, pool, sauna, and plenty of space. You’ll have your own large queen bedroom with desk, drawers, extra bedding, oil heater if needed, and a big shared bathroom (just with the kids).
 ⸻
 What We Offer
We can host one Workawayer at a time, and we invite you to become part of our family life. You’ll have:
 • A welcoming home with well-travelled, open-minded hosts
 • Shared meals every day, plus the chance to learn and cook different cuisines together
 • An unfiltered look at life with children — fun, chaotic, sometimes challenging, always real
 • Opportunities to join us for family celebrations like birthdays and Christmas, as well as beach days and weekly walks
 • Conversations about food, culture, spirituality, travel, and business (we’re self-employed and always happy to share what we’ve learned)
 • Suggestions and guidance for exploring Sydney, Australia, and beyond — we’ve travelled to 50+ countries and love sharing tips
 • Plenty of free time each day, as help is mornings only, Monday to Friday
 ⸻
What You Can Expect From Us
 • To be asked every morning if you had any dreams (our kids will want the full report).
 • To be offered breakfast and coffee — caffeine is our love language.
 • To occasionally be cooked for by the kids… taste at your own risk, but applause is mandatory.
 • To laugh, loudly and often, usually at the circus that is family life.
 • To be roped into taste-testing experimental recipes (success rate currently 70%).
 • To discover that laundry is, in fact, a universal language.
 • To realise that walking with kids is like hiking with a drunk best friend — lots of stops, demands for snacks, and cheering required.
 ⸻
 Who We’re Looking For - 25 years old +
Our ideal guest is a mature, independent, proactive person who doesn’t mind mucking in. Most of the help is house-related: laundry, tidying, cleaning, cooking family meals, and helping with the kids in the morning.
Experience in any of these helps:
 • Cooking
 • Childcare or family life
We don’t expect professionals — just people who are comfortable and confident with practical tasks. After years of hosting, we’ve learned that well-travelled and life-experienced Workawayers tend to thrive in our home.
 ⸻
 A Typical Day
Expect 6:30am starts, the breakfast rush, dressing kids, maybe a tantrum or two, then tidying, laundry, and food prep. By 10:30am you’re done for the day. Evenings are quiet — we read, relax, sometimes sauna. Dinner is optional but always offered. Weekends are yours to enjoy.
 ⸻
 Who We Are
We’re a food-loving household with Palestinian, Ukrainian, Dutch and Asian heritage. Our kitchen reflects our travels, and we love trading recipes and food traditions with our guests.
Over the years, we’ve welcomed Workawayers from Colombia, Korea, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, America, Brazil, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Mongolia… the list goes on. Every person leaves their mark, and it’s been a privilege to meet so many.
We are a home of food, laughter, and learning. If that sounds like your kind of adventure, we’d love to host you.

 - Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre- Matraville is one of the last true “neighbourhoods” in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs — a small-town feel tucked inside an affluent area. It’s quieter than hotspots like Coogee or Bondi, but close enough that you can dip in and out whenever you like. From here you can explore the best of Sydney’s coast: head north towards Bondi or south towards La Perouse for stunning walks with changing landscapes, native flora, and plenty of ocean views. The beach is within walking distance, and the city is just a 25-minute drive.
Our home is open and welcoming — after years of hosting, there’s little we haven’t seen or heard.
 Who We Are
As a family, our interests are wide-ranging: food, business, crypto, world economics, spirituality in its many forms, and walking. We try to head out on a weekly walk and always invite Workawayers to join. Walking as a family, though, is not like walking with a group of adults. Picture it like hiking with a slightly tipsy best friend: frequent stops, sudden meltdowns, constant requests for snacks, and endless encouragement needed just to make it to the finish line. That’s family life — chaotic, funny, unpredictable, but always rewarding.
 The Experience
Being part of our home is more than just lending a hand. Family life requires resilience, patience, and a big heart. Our little people are our world, and by joining us, you’ll play a part in shaping their everyday life while sharing in ours.
This Workaway is not polished or staged — it’s raw, real, and unique. An experience like no other ❤️

 - Mes animaux- Marshal (2 ans) - **Meet Marshall – Our Gentle Boy 🐾**
Marshall is a happy, friendly, and intelligent dog who’s often mistaken for a puppy thanks to his sweet face and slightly shy nature. Once he warms up, he’s all cuddles and tail wags — a true **lap dog at heart** (despite his size!) and very much the **third child in the family**.
He’s low-maintenance and easygoing — just a **20-minute walk**, and he’s set for a day of napping, snacking, and soaking up the sunshine. Marshall loves company, is great around people, and thrives in a calm, loving environment.
If you love dogs, you'll fall for this one — we certainly did.

Ana was such a joy to host — kind, gracious, and always easy to be around. I especially loved our chats about politics and religion; she’s thoughtful and inspiring, and I came away from our time together feeling really grateful. Highly recommend her to any host.
Lea was an absolute pleasure to host. From the beginning she showed incredible organisation skills and could work autonomously without needing constant direction — everything we asked of her was done thoroughly and with care. She’s meticulous in her approach, which meant tasks were always finished to a high standard.

My first workaway experience and all I can say is what an absolute dream team these guys are. Naomi, Anton, Sage and Milas welcomed me with open arms into their home and also their life.

I spent an amazing time with Milas, Sage, Naomi, and Anton which made me feel like part of the family.

What can I say? Noah is a rare human being, as one other host described him, he has 3, if not 4 brains in 1. Life is far from dull with Noah in company, and my kids took to him like a charm, referring to him as pops and developing their own private jokes and music interests.

Thank you again for the meaningful time and having me.
She arrived as I was getting the children ready for bed, and the instant she arrived she turned into what we had dubbed “chicken rat”
