    Description

We are a relaxed couple who enjoy the quiet life. Al is retired and spends most days doing odd jobs around the property and tackling larger projects from time to time. Vicki works 3 days/week from home, when she's away from her desk you'll most likely find her in the veggie garden or the kitchen.
We enjoy lots of "homesteading" activities including breadmaking and preserving, herbal medicine, soap making and general crafts. Al is trying to learn the didgeridoo and hoping to have more time for painting and drawing and Vicki enjoys curling up with a good book. We both love to travel and cook (lots of vegetarian meals with the occasional fish/meat dishes), explore different cuisines and learn about other cultures so plenty of opportunities for good conversation over a cuppa.
Our constant companions are our two rescue dogs, they love to work alongside us or find a warm spot to relax in.

    The property:
Most of the 6 acres is native bush - marri, jarrah & peppermint gums and in the short time we've been here we have been focused on cleaning up and regeneration of native flora. We have been delighted to find many different orchids starting to appear.
There is a seasonal creek running through the property and we have abundant birdlife (wrens, kookaburras, egrets, robins and red tailed black cockatoos) as well as kangaroos from time to time.
Whilst not a permaculture property we align with most of the permaculture principles and do try to live a sustainable lifestyle. We are almost offgrid and so the considerate use of power, water and resources is expected from helpers.

We enjoy sharing a meal with our Helpers once or twice a week and exchanging stories over a cup of tea.

We are happy to talk all things gardening and sustainability and look forward to brainstorming ideas for projects and travel.

We live in a lovely community and have monthly bbqs with our neighbours as well as various other social groups.

We are surrounded by the rolling hills and farmlands of the Ferguson Valley in the South West of WA. Close to Gnomesville, Wellington Forest and Wellington Dam. Plenty of walk & bike trails in the area to keep active and a good arts and music scene with regular events.
25 mins to Bunbury and beaches, approx an hour to Busselton/Dunsborough and 90 mins to Margaret River.

We have been here for 2.5 yrs and got the basics under control but we're now welcoming help with getting some more tasks completed - new garden beds, tree planting, building pergolas, fire pit area, etc

As well as the projects list there is always lots to do around the place and you could help us with everything from mowing & weeding to chopping firewood & stacking, pruning, chipping, mulching, raking paths & collecting kindling. Cleaning out the chook house and turning compost could also be on the agenda.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in then drop us a message with some details about yourself, what you're looking for and any particular skills/experience you have and we'll probably have a project to suit.
