Description
Hello
I have been on this land since I started camping in a tent here in 2008. Then a cabin and now a house. Might move back into my tent. lol. Working at being more self sufficient. I am surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest. More people are moving here though as it is special. Lakes mountains valleys and swamps. Saw a Fisher run across the road this week. And a pile of bear droppings on the road to work
Lots of gardening to do right now! I work as a professional gardener and it’s not easy getting my garden planted! Seeding , making new beds, transplanting
My projects:
Plant propagation of trees and shrubs to create a nursery
Making pasture in the forest using chickens
Moving chickens in the woods!
Building soil with local organic matter
Finish mini barn for future animals
Firewood prep always happening
Basic tasks like cleaning the shack and doing all the windows. Basic housework is always appreciated. If you have building skills that’s good. If not there’s lots of manual work to get into
Researching mushrooms propagation and other revenue generating ideas
Moving rocks branches and mulch to take your mind off things. Also there’s always firewood! Taking care and moving the chickens. Hanging out with the cats. Basic construction would be a bonus. Or cleaning and cooking skills. And always time to enjoy life and go to the lake or hiking ect. I’m here! ask me for my number
More about what makes me write is on my Substack.
I have travelled to Europe ( this past winter housesitting and doing a workaway in Hungary). I worked as a rafting guide kayak instructor for many years and spent a winter guiding in Australia. I thought id always be nomadic but I couldn’t give up the incredible deal I got by buying this small piece of land in 2008. I built my cabin first where I spent 2-3 years mostly living in full time until I semi finished the house in 2010. I would like to still travel but for now with the world where we are I feel strongly the land needs me here. To build biodiversity and share abundance with the local community. Where I live laws on animals ect are changing fast and I think it’s time to stand our ground and do what we believe in. It’s difficult getting older and still doing garden work for clients but being here full time is my goal. I work as a forest gardener on a 400 acre estate. It’s perfec really as it’s close by. But my homestead should be the focus. I just ordered more chickens. Jeff who is travelling Quebec on his bike with his dog have been here lately and have helped me a lot. New redoing of an chicken coop ect. Still lots to do. If you want to bé a part of the new earth drop by. Note; I eat local meat/eggs as a mainstay of my diet

I live on 2.5 acres of wild old growth Laurentian forest about an hour from Montreal in Wentworth Nord. Surrounded by 100’s of acres of forest and lakes. I love to teach about plants and the local forest animals and birds. I am also developing sylvopasture systems to one day have larger animals, like sheep/goats. I work with permaculture garden methods and after about ten years here it provides a good example of what it takes to start a homestead in the forest. Along with friends and family I built the house in 2010, and I am still clearing land.

Reagan lives in a large plot of land and forest in the middle of a beautiful region. During our stay we slept in the shack which gave us privacy.
