    Description

The camp is a fully accessible outdoor education facility located just outside of Bragg Creek, Alberta. Built in 1965, its mission is to provide children, youth, and adults with disabilities and complex medical conditions with life-changing outdoor recreation experiences.

The Camp is situated on 62 acres of pristine Rocky Mountain forest. Just outside of Kananaskis Provincial Park, the camp boasts kilometres of private trails, wetlands, and immediate access to first-class camping and hiking. You can expect it to be quiet and peaceful with a clear view of the surrounding mountains and starry skies at night. At the Camp you are fully in nature; which means deer and birds, squirrels and other small creatures. If you are lucky you will see the occasional bear, wild horse or herd of cattle, grazing on the surrounding land.

While this camp specializes in outdoor recreation we also host various groups such as weddings, corporate groups, other non-profits, church groups, etc. Only 45 minutes from Calgary, the camp is the perfect location to host a group in the great outdoors.

The small town of Bragg Creek is 10km away and has a number of shops, cafes and other points of interest. Cell reception at Camp is available, but limited and we have semi-reliable wifi. The camp is perfect for anyone who wants to immerse in nature, be nearly off-grid, and be close to outdoor activities and all the Alberta Rocky Mountains offer.

All volunteers are required to go through an interview process and provide a police check with vulnerable sector prior to starting their placement.

In addition to being in the mountains, our camp specializes in working with people with disabilities. As a Workawayer here, you would have the opportunity to experience the outdoors with accessibility in mind; see a High Ropes course that uses wheelchairs and a Sensory Yurt for people with autism and sensory processing disorders, plus so much more. In your free time, go hiking on our trails or anywhere in Kananaskis. Borrow a bike or go paddling down the river. Join some of the staff on a day of fishing or snowshoeing in the winter.
