We had two wonderful weeks at Moira and Ian's place! We immediately fell in love with the incredible views, the cozy house and the two adorable dogs. This place is unique and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know DeCourcy Island.

The area and the two of them remind you how beautiful it can be without all the fuss. We were fascinated by the fact how little water you can get by with in everyday life.
Furthermore we had the chance to see lots of wildlife, so we watched whales from the deck, as well as seals during kayaking and also eagles and dears.
We already miss these incredible two weeks and will definitely be back if another trip to Canada is planned.
Wish you all the best Moira and Ian!!Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Anne)
Anne and Pia have just left after just a wonderful two week visit. I honestly think one of our dogs has sunk into depression over their departure.
We thank them for their hard work, pleasant demeanor and sense of humor. They were always happy, helpful and eager to complete any of the tasks we had given them.
One of the agreements we made in
… read more advance was for them to take on the dinner meals and we were treated to some really fabulous vegetarian recipes.
In addition to the meals, they weeded a difficult garden, painted the lattice under the bunkie and workshop, washed all the windows on two buildings, sanded and painted two andirondack chairs. cleaned my kitchen, house and a disgustingly dirty garden shed . All of this accomplished with the difficult circumstance of zero water available during our drought conditions. They were great about conserving our resources.
They work well together and are just lovely women. We would love to have them visit again in the future and are happy to recommend them highly to a future host.
Good luck Anne and Pie, safe travels!!

It would take more than a simple review to describe the incredible experience I had staying with Moira and Ian these past two weeks.
They were so kind to me; from the first day, waiting for me at the dock, to arranging my departure by sailboat with other fantastic island residents.
I won’t forget the good times watching hockey, cuddling the dogs,
… read more enjoying delicious meals (and they know how to spoil you), the work moments which were just as pleasant with them, meeting the people of the island, their patience in communicating with me in English and their effort to speak French as well, always leaving their door open and making me feel at home.
Their house is in an amazing location with a breathtaking view, so close to the water it feels like being on a boat.
The bunkie where I stayed is very comfortable and the view is stunning.
This island is a paradise for lovers of peace, nature, and animals. There are squirrels and birds around the house, including impressive eagles. You can encounter deer and raccoons while walking, and see otters and sea lions while kayaking. I was incredibly lucky to see orcas right in front of the house before my last day, it was a magical moment that I will never forget.
This experience with them is certainly one of my best experiences in Canada. I wish others the chance to come to this haven of peace and meet these wonderful people.
Thank you again for everything, and I hope to see you again in the future. GO CANUCKS!Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Lorenzo)
We have just had the pleasure of Lorenzo's company for the last two weeks. I can quite honestly say I have never met a harder working fellow in my life. His dedication to the tasks at hand was impressive. He completed all the tasks we had hoped in half the time we had allowed. He is happy and agreeable and kind. His English skills are much better

We were staying with Moira and Ian for three weeks. They are both wonderful people, we had so much fun joking around, talking for hours and watching hockey together. They really did everything to make sure we have the best experience here. The work was fun and easy, we did some weeding, split firewood, built a garden fence and did some painting.
… read more The guest house is very cozy (had the best sleep there in a long time!) with a view to die for. Our free time we spent exploring the island, kayaking, fishing and most of the time just sitting in the sun and watching the ocean and the many animals around. And of course cuddling with Canada’s two cutest Cocker Spaniels. Even though Moira claims that cooking is not her thing, we had some great meals and exchanged recipes. The island is quiet but if you enjoy peace, nature and a very nice little community, there is no better place. We cannot recommend this little paradise enough.

Lena and Bernhard were our first workaways and they were awesome. They worked hard and always had a smile on their face. They built a new deerproof garden, split and stacked firewood, stained siding, refinished windows and doors and weeded in the garden. They could not have been better companions and our times chatting in the evenings were relaxed
