    We are located in an old nunnery and boarding school in small town of Idrija, Slovenija. Enlisted on a UNESCO heritage list, Idrija has a rich history of technical, cultural and culinary heritage. Hostel is ran by youth organisation which is focused on developing and enriching the youth life in Idrija with various workshops, seminars and events in all of it's areas (culture, sports, social life).

    Our goal is to give an opportunity to the enthusiastic young people to develop their skills and in fact find their first work. Having said it, we are looking for someone who can make this hostel great B-)

    We are a youth hostel, located in a 1930s building built by Italians. We run the whole place, which hosts the youth center alongside the hostel. We do a lot of youth exchanges, workshops and events, giving you a chance to meet a ton of people from all over the place.

    Our team performs the following tasks according to the interests and knowledge:
    - reception;
    - board games night;
    - taking care of surroundings (watering plants, cleaning, cutting grass);
    - laundry.

    Above all we need help with the reception and with other hostel work, therefore prior experience is highly appreciated.

    Although it is a town of only 5,000 people Idrija has plenty to offer; both in the town center, and surrounding region. Volunteers can learn about Idrija’s history by taking a guided tour in the old mercury mine, visiting the castle and its museum exhibitions, learning about the rich history of bobbin lace, enjoying traditional dishes such as Idrijski žlikrofi, and exploring the incredible surrounding nature, with plenty of possibilities for hiking, cycling, flyfishing, rock climbing and swimming. You can visit the protected Dive Jezero, or Wild Lake, with its rich plant life, a 3.5 km light forest walk from the hostel. If you’re looking for a more challenging hike, you can visit the mountain huts and hills, offering beautiful views of the valley. In winter, for some fresh air and adrenaline you can enjoy the Cerkno Ski Centre, 27 km from Idrija.

    Idrija is well connected to the Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, with regular bus lines daily. The coastal region is a 1.5 hour drive away by car, and for alpine enthusiasts Triglav National Park is also a 1.5 hour drive away.

    Come experience the Slovenian way of life, in our picturesque UNESCO town of Idrija! We look forward to hosting you!
